Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maverick Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Pinksy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson scores with a nice right hand.
Anderson needs to keep his hands up - Pinksy had a free shot at his head there.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pinksy, as that shot connected.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Anderson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Anderson throws the kick towards the body but Pinksy avoids it.

Pinksy gets caught napping as Anderson dives in and scores a takedown. Pinksy manages to retain guard.
Anderson wants to pass the guard but Pinksy is keeping the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pinksy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Anderson is looking to work some ground and pound but Pinksy has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anderson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pinksy is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pinksy has escaped and now he's on top!

Anderson seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Anderson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pinksy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pinksy is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Anderson had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pinksy enables Anderson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pinksy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
