Flanery comes to the ring accompanied by Dropkick Murphys - Shipping up to boston. Paul Normandale has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Normandale takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Normandale wants to clinch up but Flanery keeps it at a distance.
Flanery fails with an attempt to clinch.

Normandale gets a takedown into half guard.
Flanery is trying to stand up here but Normandale is controlling him well.
Normandale moves nicely into side control.
Flanery gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Flanery is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Normandale's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Normandale's back!
Normandale looking very determined here, making life difficult for Flanery.
Normandale rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Flanery is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Normandale tries to roll over but Flanery keeps him under control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Normandale wants to control from the top but Flanery keeps moving.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Normandale looking for a guillotine from mount but Flanery is having none of it.
Normandale with a couple of short strikes.
Flanery really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Normandale trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Normandale closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Normandale tries to advance to mount but can't.
Flanery wants to control but Normandale postures up.

Normandale is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Flanery has escaped the position, nice work there.
Normandale working away.

Normandale looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Flanery manages to work his way to half guard, despite Normandale's best efforts.
Normandale is breathing heavily.

Flanery gets back to full guard.

Flanery is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Normandale looking to sit in guard and control but Flanery gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Flanery will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Normandale bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Flanery's guard.

Normandale won't allow Flanery to sweep him here.
Flanery is trying to control the position but Normandale postures up.

Normandale postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Flanery is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Normandale, into his guard.
Normandale looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Flanery throwing strikes from guard but Normandale blocks nicely.
Normandale keeping moving, preventing Flanery from controlling successfully.
Normandale tries to strike from the bottom.

Flanery drops back looking for a leg! Normandale is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Normandale manages to kick Flanery off! Flanery jumps back into Normandale's guard.
Normandale controls Flanery momentarily but Flanery frees himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Flanery trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Flanery wants to clinch but Normandale slips to the side
and Normandale counters with a good low kick that Flanery was not able to check.
Flanery gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Normandale counters with a single leg into guard. Flanery didn't expect that.
Normandale is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Normandale won't allow Flanery to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Normandale showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Normandale scores with a one two! Flanery had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

and Normandale counters with a big head kick but Flanery shrugs it off.

and Normandale counters with a nice double leg into side control. Flanery won't be happy with that.

Normandale tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Normandale has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Flanery wants to control but Normandale postures up.

Normandale goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Flanery has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Normandale but great work by Flanery.
Normandale can't do much from the bottom here.

Flanery is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Normandale is trying to escape and Flanery transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Normandale is forced to tap! Nice work there by Flanery! Very nice indeed!
