Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chin Checker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tyron Lawler!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Checker lands with a good body shot.

Lawler shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Checker napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Lawler throws a strike aimed at the side of Checker's head but Checker avoids it well.
Checker is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lawler has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Checker is looking for a sweep.
Lawler is looking to take a break and control but Checker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lawler in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Checker tries to bench press Lawler off him but Lawler keeps the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Checker prevents Lawler from moving into mount.
Lawler trying to control the position but Checker is working away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Checker struggling a bit here.
Lawler works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Lawler trying to control the action but Checker is working from the bottom.
Checker is trying to get back to his feet.
Lawler scores with a couple of short elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lawler looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Checker is avoiding damage well.
You can see the frustration on Checker's face as Lawler controls the position.
Checker on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Checker tries to get out of the position.

Lawler tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Checker is trying to get back to his feet.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lawler tries to advance position but instead Checker slips a leg back in to half guard.
Lawler missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Checker is refusing to be controlled, as Lawler sits in half guard.
Checker wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Lawler shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Checker napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Lawler postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The strikes coming from Lawler are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Lawler trying to control the position but Checker is working away.
Checker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lawler wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Checker holds on to Lawler's head and controls the position momentarily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Checker is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lawler has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Checker takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Checker wants to control but Lawler postures up.
Lawler is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Checker wants to get back to his feet but Lawler drags him back down.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Checker lands a body shot.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Checker drops Lawler with a beautiful combination! Lawler stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Checker is looking for the KO!


Lawler is rocked!


It looks like Tyron Lawler has been cut.
Checker scores with a jab to the body.
Lawler is still on wobbly legs! Can Checker finish him?
Checker drops Lawler with a big left hand! Lawler is injured, injured bad! Checker jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chin Checker!
Chin Checker was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
