Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adrian McMullen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronaldo Reynolds! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reynolds fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Reynolds is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Reynolds lands a two punch combo.
Reynolds connects with a good right hand that stumbles McMullen. McMullen circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Ronaldo Reynolds seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Reynolds throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A shot to the liver by Reynolds. Beautiful body shot. Reynolds tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McMullen was well out of range. Poor timing from Reynolds. McMullen feinted with a counter takedown. Reynolds misses with a hook
and McMullen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McMullen. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McMullen postures up in Reynolds's guard and throws a big left but Reynolds blocks it. Reynolds is adopting a defensive guard. Reynolds avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Reynolds has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. McMullen has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. McMullen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Reynolds gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reynolds breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Reynolds throws a big shot that misses. Reynolds getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Reynolds throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McMullen sees it coming and avoids it easily. Reynolds scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. McMullen takes a body punch but keeps moving. Reynolds lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Reynolds swings for the body but McMullen moves out of range.
Reynolds scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Reynolds is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Reynolds circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops McMullen to the canvas! McMullen doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Reynolds keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
