Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Malek shoots in and gets a takedown into Medina's guard.

Malek is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Medina is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Medina has escaped and now he's on top!

Malek is trying to control the position but Medina postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Medina is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Medina gets to his feet - Malek follows without any prompting.
Medina avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Medina enables Malek to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Medina manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Medina is rocked!
Malek wants to control from the top but Medina keeps moving.
Oh Medina is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Medina knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Malek on the ground.
Malek missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Medina trying to keep a closed guard but Malek is proving a slippery customer.
Malek cracks Medina with a solid left hand.
Malek slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Malek has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Malek is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Medina looks calm but he's in trouble here. Malek gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Medina is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Malek lets go of the hold and Medina can pop his arm back in it's socket.

In his post fight interview, John Malek started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
