Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Taiki Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davidson has chosen August Burns Red - Meridian as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Taiki Aoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dustin Davidson!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davidson finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Davidson drops Aoki with a left right combo! Davidson follows him down to the ground into side control.


Aoki is rocked!
Davidson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Oh Aoki is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Davidson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Aoki has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Aoki tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Davidson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A chopping leg kick lands by Davidson.
Davidson tries to clinch up but Aoki circles away and keeps his distance.
Aoki seems to have got his legs back now.
Davidson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Davidson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Davidson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Aoki.

Davidson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Davidson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Davidson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Aoki manages to avoid it.
Dustin Davidson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davidson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Aoki counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Aoki is trying to work for a kimura but Davidson is defending well.
Aoki throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Aoki working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Aoki not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Aoki seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Davidson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Aoki thows a huge punch but Davidson dodges it nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aoki working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Davidson's thigh. Davidson counters though and makes it back to full guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Davidson wants to get back to his feet but Aoki is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Davidson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Aoki's guard.

Davidson wants to stand but Aoki has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aoki is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Aoki accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Aoki postures up in Davidson's guard and throws a big left but Davidson blocks it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Aoki throws a strike but Davidson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Aoki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Davidson postures up.
Aoki wants to control but Davidson passes easily into half guard.
Aoki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Aoki has a hand on Davidson's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Davidson takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Davidson prevents Aoki from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dustin Davidson dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Davidson lands a nice shot to the body.
Davidson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Aoki drops down looking for a counter takedown but Davidson sprawls and moves away.

Davidson tries to sprawl but Aoki drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Davidson has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Davidson gets back to full guard.
Aoki connects with a couple of short punches.
Aoki makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aoki stands up over Davidson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Aoki slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Taiki Aoki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Davidson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aoki is one step ahead there.
Aoki wants to pass the guard but Davidson is keeping the position.

Aoki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Davidson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Davidson can't keep his opponent in guard - Aoki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Aoki moves nicely into side control.

Aoki is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Davidson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Davidson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Aoki has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Donk. Aoki catches Davidson right on the button with a cross.
Aoki moves in looking to clinch but Davidson pushes him off.
Aoki blocks a leg kick.
Aoki drops down looking for a counter takedown but Davidson sprawls and moves away.
Davidson looks to land a right hand but Aoki moved out of range.
Davidson moves in looking to clinch but Aoki pushes him off.
Davidson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Aoki ducks under a wild hook from Davidson.
Davidson is still on wobbly legs! Can Aoki finish him?
Aoki is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Davidson flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Davidson is out cold! Aoki holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Taiki Aoki!
A very excited looking Taiki Aoki made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
