The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanders closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ulrich is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Ulrich might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ulrich could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Sanders drops back looking for a leg! Ulrich is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ulrich manages to kick Sanders off! Sanders jumps back into Ulrich's guard.

Ulrich had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sanders defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sanders really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ulrich. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sanders keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ulrich's head.
Oh Ulrich is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanders arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Ulrich's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mike Sanders!
