Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Daryl Page (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Baxter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daryl Page has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daryl Page!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aaron Baxter!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Page shoots in and drives through. Baxter sprawls well.
Page shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Baxter as he jumps to the side.
Baxter steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Page.

Baxter throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Page tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Baxter is in Page's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baxter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baxter won't allow Page to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Baxter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Page swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Baxter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Baxter wants to pass the guard but Page is keeping the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Page not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Baxter looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Page shoots in for a takedown but Baxter shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daryl Page. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Page shoots in but no luck this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Baxter manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Page on his heels. He'll look to pass Page's guard now, I'm sure.
Baxter looks winded!

Page has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Baxter has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Baxter is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Page to keep the fight standing.

Page breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown attempt by Page or perhaps it was just good defense by Baxter, which made it look bad.
Baxter tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Page shoots in and drives through. Baxter sprawls well.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Baxter! But no joy.
Baxter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Page.

Baxter fakes the leg kick and cracks Page in the body.
Page is trying hard to land a takedown here. Baxter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Page breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Baxter rushes Page and presses him up against the cage.
Page is trying to force a seperation but Baxter has the dominant position.

Page wants a takedown.
Page has had enough of the clinch but Baxter keeps him there for the moment.
Page really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Page fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Baxter avoids it really well and circles away.

Baxter moves into range and clinches up with Page.

Baxter gets control of Page's arms and successfully pulls guard. Baxter will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Page throws a big elbow that misses.
Page stops Baxter from standing up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Page won't allow Baxter to sweep him here.

Aaron Baxter dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Page dives in and grabs Baxter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Baxter pushes down on Page's head and hops out.

As Baxter tries to get set, Page tries to push him back and clinch up but Baxter manages to avoid the attempt.
Baxter is breathing heavily.

Baxter closes the distance and clinches.
Page jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Baxter walks away with a smile on his face. Page gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Baxter takes the fight into the clinch.
Come on Page - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Page working hard to break the clinch.
Page is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Baxter to keep the fight standing.
Page lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Page wants to break the clinch but can't.
Page wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Baxter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Page fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Baxter changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Page fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Page will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Page wants to control from the top but Baxter keeps moving.
Baxter is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Page is controlling him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Page throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Baxter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Baxter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Page stops Baxter from standing up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Baxter has momentary wrist control but Page slips an elbow through the middle.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Aaron Baxter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Page's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Page shoots in but Baxter avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Baxter throws out a counter right but Page avoids it with no problem.
Page shoots in looking for a takedown. Baxter tries to sprawl out of it but Page keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Baxter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Daryl Page seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Page tries to pull guard but Baxter forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Baxter fails to land the takedown.
Baxter shoots in for a takedown but Page shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Aaron Baxter seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Page dives in and scores a takedown into Baxter's guard.
Page prevents Baxter from getting back to his feet.

Page postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Page throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Baxter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Page throws a big elbow that misses.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

As Page backs off Baxter throws a huge counter combo but Page manages to avoid it all.

Aaron Baxter is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Baxter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
