Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vinny Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tipene Rawhiti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vinny Mack has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vinny Mack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tipene Rawhiti!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rawhiti fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Vinny Mack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rawhiti throws a leg kick but Mack sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Mack darts in trying to clinch

and Rawhiti counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Mack's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Rawhiti takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Rawhiti has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rawhiti has eaten all the pies!
Rawhiti tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mack just stands there and leans against the cage.
Mack tries to throw a body punch but Rawhiti avoids it by throwing Mack back against the cage.
Mack is trying to break the clinch but Rawhiti has him pressed against the cage.

Mack is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Rawhiti is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Rawhiti tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Rawhiti pulls Mack into guard.
Mack trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rawhiti's guard.
Rawhiti is trying to control the position but Mack postures up.
Mack tries to stand but Rawhiti is controlling from the bottom.
Rawhiti has control of Mack's left arm, preventing Mack from doing any damage.

Mack wanted to stand there but Rawhiti had control of the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mack wants to stand and escape but instead Rawhiti has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Rawhiti slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mack is looking to clinch.

Mack moves in looking to clinch but Rawhiti pushes him off.
Mack tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rawhiti paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Rawhiti has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mack misses with a body punch.
Rawhiti fails to pull guard.
Vinny Mack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tipene Rawhiti.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mack misses with an elbow over the top.
Rawhiti has had enough of the clinch but Mack keeps him there for the moment.
Mack avoids the elbow strike from Rawhiti, against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tipene Rawhiti dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mack moves into range and clinches up with Rawhiti.
Mack gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Tipene Rawhiti has been cut.
Rawhiti tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mack's elbow.
Rawhiti keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mack's efforts to push away.
Rawhiti is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mack gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Rawhiti has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mack landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Rawhiti tries for a takedown but Mack manages to get underhooks.

Mack breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Vinny Mack is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mack forces Rawhiti back against the cage and clinches.
Mack tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Rawhiti decides to pull guard.
Rawhiti lands a decent shot there.
Mack is looking to stand up but Rawhiti won't let him.
Rawhiti has his hands on Mack's head, controlling the position.
Mack wants to stand but Rawhiti has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rawhiti is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mack is looking to stand up but Rawhiti won't let him.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Rawhiti content to control rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Rawhiti shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mack counters with an outside leg kick.

Rawhiti throws a right and a left that both miss.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mack looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mack forces Rawhiti back against the cage and clinches.

That's time! Mack's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Donk. Rawhiti catches Mack right on the button with a cross.
Mack tries to clinch but Rawhiti moves out of range.
Rawhiti swats away the attempt to clinch by Mack.

Rawhiti fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mack to the ground. Rawhiti is now in Mack's guard.
Rawhiti lands a couple of elbows.
Rawhiti stays in close to Mack's body and controls the position.
Mack wants to stand but Rawhiti is controlling the position.

Rawhiti looking to sit in guard and control but Mack gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Rawhiti wants to get back to his feet but Mack is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rawhiti is trying to break the clinch but Mack has him pressed against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Rawhiti wants a takedown but no success here.

Rawhiti jumps guard and drags Mack to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Mack tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rawhiti manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rawhiti drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mack defends it well.

Rawhiti shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Tipene Rawhiti comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rawhiti has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
