Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Williams Harrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Edward Ryan! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryan slaps away a takedown attempt from Harrison, before circling back to the center of the mat. Harrison really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ryan ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Harrison gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Harrison crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Ryan - the referee stops the clock and Harrison gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Ryan. Harrison manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A combination from Ryan does no damage. Ryan throws a right hand that Harrison ducks under and follows up with a left that Harrison also avoids with ease. Ryan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harrison successfully pulls guard.
Ryan wants to stand but Harrison is controlling his posture from full guard. Ryan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Harrison throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ryan uses it to pass to side control.
Harrison is trying to get back to half guard. Ryan tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Harrison is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Ryan wants to stand but Harrison has his arm trapped.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryan tries to move to mount but Harrison blocks the move with his legs. Harrison tries to buck Ryan off but Ryan is having none of it. Ryan landing strikes. Ryan working the head and body with strikes. Harrison takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Harrison is rocked! Ryan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Harrison is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Oh Harrison is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ryan tries to advance to mount but Harrison denies him. Ryan wants to stand but Harrison has his arm trapped. Ryan cracks Harrison with a big elbow. Harrison is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Ryan wants to stand but Harrison has his arm trapped. Harrison is trying to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ryan working away. Ryan scoring with punches and elbows. Ryan lands a strong strike to the head of Harrison. That's dazed him! Ryan looking to finish here. Harrison is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Ryan lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
