0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cris DeSalvo! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rivera misses with a right hand and DeSalvo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rivera's guard. DeSalvo advances to half guard. DeSalvo lands strikes from half guard. DeSalvo is looking for a kimura but Rivera is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for DeSalvo to get the leverage. Rivera pushes DeSalvo off looking to stand but DeSalvo dives back in and keeps control.
Rivera is staying active underneath DeSalvo, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Rivera could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. DeSalvo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rivera sees it coming and defends easily. DeSalvo with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Nice strikes from DeSalvo there. DeSalvo content to control rather than advance. Rivera knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for DeSalvo on the ground. Rivera wants to improve his position but DeSalvo is controlling well.
