Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bod Bulman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bod Bulman has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bod Bulman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Carter!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carter has managed to clinch.
Carter misses with a punch on the inside.

Carter drags the fight down to the ground.
Bulman showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Carter trying to keep a closed guard but Bulman is proving a slippery customer.
Carter wants to stand and escape but Bulman is having none of it.
Bulman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carter has his foot on Bulman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bulman works his way back into a safe position though.

Bulman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Carter smiles and moves away.

Bulman avoids the head kick by Carter.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Carter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bulman but Bulman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
As Carter tries to get set, Bulman tries to push him back and clinch up but Carter manages to avoid the attempt.
Carter looks for the body kick but Bulman saw that one coming.
Bulman scores with a head kick. Carter tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Bulman is breathing heavily.
Carter throws a wild body kick that Bulman sees coming a mile off.
Bulman swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Bulman misses with a hook. Carter ducked under it nicely.
Carter throws out a counter right but Bulman avoids it with no problem.
Carter fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Carter blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Bulman tries to pull guard but Carter forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bod Bulman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

With the fighters up against the cage, Carter throws an elbow but misses.

Carter gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Bulman throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Carter should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Bulman is pulling down on Carter's head to control his posture.

Bulman wants to sweep but no luck.
Carter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Carter wants to control from the top but Bulman keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bulman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Carter drags the fight down to the ground.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Carter has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Bulman has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Carter lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Bulman backwards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Carter dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Carter clinches up against the cage.

Bulman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Carter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bulman, pushing him back against the cage.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Carter.
Bulman is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carter drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

James Carter seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Bulman is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Carter wants to take the fight to the mat but Bulman manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Carter will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Bulman up against the cage.

Bulman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carter circles away.
Carter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Carter throws a series of punches but Bulman avoids them all with ease.

Carter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

James Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Bulman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Bulman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bulman wants it to stay on the feet.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Bulman jumps guard but Carter turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Bulman gets underhooks to prevent Carter's takedown attempt.
Bod Bulman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Carter.

Bulman breaks the clinch.
Carter goes for a double leg but Bulman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bulman continues to drive forward.

and Carter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Carter lands a nice shot to the body.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Carter, right into the meat.
No luck for Carter with that takedown attempt.
It looked like Bulman was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
James Carter seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bulman throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Carter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bulman circles away.

Bulman moves into the clinch.
Bulman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Carter gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Bulman is trying to stall.
Carter drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bulman gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Bulman breaks the clinch.
Carter shoots in for a takedown but Bulman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bulman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Bulman closes the distance and pushes Carter back into the cage.
Carter prevents a takedown attempt there.

Carter pulls Bulman into guard.

Carter working for submissions but it's allowed Bulman to get to half guard.
Carter wants to control but Bulman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bulman tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Carter.
Carter throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Bulman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bulman is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Carter sees it coming and defends easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carter fails with a takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bod Bulman.
Well Carter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
