PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between M I Callis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Pitfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pitfield has chosen All Against All by The Haunted as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Thomas Pitfield!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pitfield is looking to land body kicks.
A head kick misses from Callis.
Pitfield keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Pitfield with a poor takedown
and Callis counters with a left and a right that stings Pitfield.
Pitfield tries to close the distance and clinch up but Callis swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pitfield throws a leg kick but Callis sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Pitfield scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Callis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pitfield looks up at the clock and then as Callis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pitfield smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Callis gets back to half guard.
Pitfield stalling.

Pitfield seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Callis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Callis tries to roll over but Pitfield keeps him under control.

Pitfield is working for a submission of some sort.
Callis is trying to maintain the position but Pitfield is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The fighters are battling for position here. Callis manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

It looks like M I Callis has been cut.
Callis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pitfield tries to avoid it but Callis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pitfield to the ground. Pitfield escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Callis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pitfield won't be happy with that.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Callis is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Pitfield has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Pitfield!

Callis has his foot on Pitfield's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pitfield works his way back into a safe position though.
Pitfield would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Pitfield tries to close the distance and clinch but Callis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Callis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pitfield.
Pitfield moves in looking to clinch but Callis pushes him off.
Callis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pitfield has his takedown stuffed

and Callis counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pitfield's guard now.
Pitfield tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Callis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pitfield is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Callis, into his guard.

Callis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pitfield doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pitfield manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pitfield would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

and Callis counters with a single leg into guard. Pitfield didn't expect that.

Callis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Callis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Callis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Pitfield bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Callis is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Pitfield off and has taken his back!
Pitfield looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

M I Callis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pitfield is keeping busy.
Pitfield manages to reverse the position and now he's in Callis's guard. Nice work there by Pitfield.

Pitfield avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Callis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pitfield gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

M I Callis showed his dominance in that final round.
