The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayes throws a predictable looking body shot
and Jackson counters with a straight right hand.
Mayes looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Jackson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mayes's guard.
Jackson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Jackson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mayes!
Mayes tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Cornelius Jackson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
