Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitch Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Calloway! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason lands a nice hook to Calloway's body. Calloway takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Mason throws a nice inside leg kick. Mason moves into the clinch. Calloway tries a body shot but Mason blocks it.
Calloway takes an elbow to the temple.
It looks like Mark Calloway has been cut. Mason tries a knee to the head but Calloway blocks it.
A short body shot lands from Mason as the two fighters clinch.
Calloway looks winded! Calloway avoiding damage as Mason throws knees to the body.
Mason lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Calloway. Mason creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Calloway's defenses. Mason lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Calloway has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Mason landing knees to the body.
Calloway takes an elbow to the temple. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mason throws a knee to the head but misses.
Mason throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Calloways head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mason drives through and clinches with Calloway against the cage.
Mason lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Mason lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. A short body shot lands from Mason as the two fighters clinch.
Mason lands with a left to the head. A shot in the inside from Mason. Mason lands an elbow that stopped Calloway in his tracks for a moment. Mason lands with a left to the head.
That has opened up Mark Calloway's cut even more. A short left from Mason. A nice right hand lands inside from Mason. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A bit of stalling here from Mason.
Nice elbow from Mason.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mason trying to land knees to the body.
Mason comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. A nice left hand lands by Mason.
A knee to the head by Mason.
Calloway is rocked! Mason unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Calloway! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Mason is unloading with more strikes now! Calloway drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mitch Mason!
