The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pennington moves away from the strike by Makunouchi.
Ippo Makunouchi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Makunouchi fails to land with a series of punches.
Pennington has managed to clinch.
Pennington drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Pennington wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Makunouchi is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Pennington has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Makunouchi is looking to defend but Pennington has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Makunouchi! Pennington pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Makunouchi taps out and this one is all over!
