Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roy Niga!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pettis moves into the clinch.
Pettis is pressed up against the cage. Niga has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pettis down to the mat. Pettis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Niga closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Pettis manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Pettis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Niga tries to free his leg and advance position but Pettis is retaining full guard.

Niga stands and steps away. Pettis gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Roy Niga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Niga closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pettis circles away.

Pettis has Niga up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Niga stalling in the clinch but Pettis improves position.
Niga is trying to break the clinch but Pettis has him pressed against the cage.

Pettis manages to pull guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Niga stopping the sweep attempt from Pettis.
Pettis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Niga trying to control the position from guard on top but Pettis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pettis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Niga defends it easily.

Pettis pushes a forearm under Niga's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Niga is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
