Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tetsuya Takimoto! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takimoto rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Takimoto fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Takimoto lands with a nice body punch. Takimoto with a jab. A jab-cross combination lands for Takimoto and sends James crashing to the mat! Takimoto follows him down to the mat - James regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
James is rocked!
It looks like Frank James has been cut. Takimoto trying to pass the guard but James defending well. Oh James is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Takimoto moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from James. James seems to have got his legs back now. Takimoto taking a breather here. James tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. James trying to control but Takimoto flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! James wants to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Takimoto has the hooks in. James is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Takimoto controlling from the back. I really don't envy James right now.
James looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. James rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takimoto moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from James.
James wants to control but Takimoto postures up. James is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. James tries to improve position but can't.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. A combination from Takimoto does no damage. Takimoto throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Takimoto misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Takimoto scores with a one two! James had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Takimoto gets caught flat footed, as James shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. James postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Takimoto working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from James. James postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Takimoto is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of James, into his guard. James looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Takimoto stands up from James's guard - Takimoto perhaps looking for a knockout. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tetsuya Takimoto dominated that round. The cut man is working on Frank James's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Takimoto keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. No joy there for Takimoto, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Takimoto throws a right and a left that both miss. Takimoto scores with a hook to the body. James takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Takimoto comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Takimoto rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Takimoto fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Takimoto's waist but Takimoto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side. James fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank James. That's going to take a lot out of him. James pivots, looking for a leg kick but Takimoto is out of range and James settles back down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takimoto moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Takimoto throws a hook but James avoids it easily. Tetsuya Takimoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takimoto is breathing heavily. Takimoto checks the leg kick nicely there.
James looking for a takedown here - he's got it. James trying to control the position from guard on top but Takimoto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. James pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Takimoto is keeping the position for now. Takimoto keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully. James is looking for a sweep. Takimoto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. James regains full guard. Nicely done. James is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. James throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Takimoto escapes and throws James's legs to the side, diving into side control! James is looking to reverse the position. James seems a little lost for a moment, as Takimoto dominates the positioning. James tries to bench press Takimoto off him but Takimoto keeps the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tetsuya Takimoto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Frank James's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Takimoto checks a leg kick nicely. James fails with the takedown. Nice combo by Takimoto! Oh, that's hurt him - James falls to the canvas and Takimoto follows him into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Takimoto stands up and beckons James to his feet. James misses with a kick to the body.
Tetsuya Takimoto seems to be getting the better of the standup. Takimoto lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Takimoto fails to land with a series of punches.
Takimoto throws a right hand that James ducks under and follows up with a left that James also avoids with ease. Takimoto rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Takimoto throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Takimoto connects with a single shot there. James blocks a jab. Takimoto is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down James rather than just go for the knockout. The fighters circle momentarily. Takimoto darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Takimoto takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. This has been an exciting period of action! James shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. James swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Takimoto is now in James's guard. A big mistake from James there, giving up the dominant position!
That's one minute gone in the round. James not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Takimoto avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
James escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Takimoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Takimoto trying to stand up but can't free himself from James's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. James tries to strike from the bottom.
James is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
James has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Takimoto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Takimoto passes into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takimoto is thwarting James's attempts to control the position. Takimoto wants to control but James is keeping him busy. James is trying to get back to full guard. James wants to control but Takimoto is keeping busy.
Takimoto moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from James.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. James tries to get back to half guard but can't. James looks to move to half guard but instead Takimoto has passed into mount! Damn! Frank James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Takimoto gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! James has a takedown stuffed. Takimoto throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tetsuya Takimoto is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Takimoto swinging wilding here.
And that's the end of the fight! Tetsuya Takimoto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Takimoto winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
