Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Razor De Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Cowell!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Costa throws a right hand that Cowell ducks under and follows up with a left that Cowell also avoids with ease.
Cowell shoots in for a double leg but De Costa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

De Costa shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
De Costa not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cowell wants to get back to full guard.

Cowell is defending against the submission attempts here by De Costa.

De Costa slips a nice elbow through Cowell's hands, connecting with Cowell's forehead.

Cowell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Cowell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cowell is on top in guard.
Cowell pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. De Costa is keeping the position for now.

De Costa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cowell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cowell won't allow De Costa to sweep him here.
De Costa is breathing heavily.

Cowell passes De Costa's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
De Costa is refusing to be controlled, as Cowell sits in half guard.
De Costa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if De Costa tries to get out of the position.
Cowell works his foot free and advances to mount.
Cowell wants to take De Costa's back but he can't do it this time.
Cowell trying to control but De Costa is having none of it.

Cowell can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as De Costa is looking to escape.

De Costa regains half guard.
De Costa is pressing down on Cowell's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
De Costa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cowell seems to be working for a kimura but De Costa defends the submission attempt.

De Costa is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

De Costa defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cowell.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Cowell dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


De Costa throws a series of strikes that have Cowell backpedaling.


It looks like Anderson Cowell has been cut.
Cowell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts De Costa as he jumps to the side.
Cowell closes this distance looking for a takedown but De Costa circles away.
De Costa scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cowell doesn't seem bothered though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

De Costa rushes Cowell and presses him up against the cage.

De Costa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cowell avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cowell swats away the attempt to clinch by De Costa.

De Costa gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
De Costa scores with a shot to the side of Cowell's head.
De Costa is pressed up against the cage. Cowell has hold of a leg and is looking to drag De Costa down to the mat. De Costa avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Razor De Costa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Cowell.

Cowell tries to keep at a distance but De Costa has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cowell gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from De Costa.

De Costa breaks from the clinch.
Razor De Costa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cowell displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as De Costa throws out the jab.

De Costa throws a one two combo.
De Costa misses with a series of wild punches.
Cowell shoots in looking for a takedown. De Costa tries to sprawl out of it but Cowell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. De Costa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
De Costa connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
De Costa moves into range and connects with a jab.
De Costa scores with the left hand. Cowell knows he should have avoided that one.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

De Costa closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cowell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but De Costa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

De Costa has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Cowell avoids a kick to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cowell.
De Costa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cowell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in De Costa's guard.
De Costa controls Cowell momentarily but Cowell frees himself.
Cowell pushes down on De Costa's leg and manages to get into half guard.
De Costa wants to control but Cowell is keeping busy.

Cowell has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can De Costa defend it? Cowell steps over the head and cranks it - De Costa is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Cowell!
