Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Wilson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Last Emperor! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson pushes Emperor up against the cage in a clinch. A short right from Wilson. Emperor has Wilson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wilson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Wilson gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Emperor wants to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Emperor is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Wilson pulls his head out easily. Wilson is just content to waste time from the top position. Emperor takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilson trying to control but Emperor is working from the bottom. Wilson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emperor swivels though and keeps the full guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Wilson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Emperor as he avoids it easily. Emperor shoots and misses and Wilson counters with a single leg into guard. Emperor didn't expect that. Wilson wants to control from the top but Emperor keeps moving. Wilson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Emperor is proving hard to escape from. Wilson tries to free his leg and advance position but Emperor is retaining full guard. Emperor has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Wilson doesn't defend quickly enough and Emperor has managed to lock this one up! Can Wilson escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Emperor on a fantastic submission victory.
