PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mille Muuskanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Frankie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Muuskanen comes to the cage accompanied by Abba - Dancing Queen. Frankie comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Three 6 Mafia - It's A Fight kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Frankie!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frankie drives through with a takedown into Muuskanen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Frankie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Muuskanen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frankie tries to get to full guard but Muuskanen has control of the leg.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Muuskanen is keen to just control but Frankie is a slippery customer.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Frankie can do anything to dispel that myth.

Frankie is pulling down on Muuskanen's head. It's preventing any offense from Muuskanen, at least for the moment.

Frankie is looking to regain half guard here but Muuskanen keeps moving and retains side control.
Frankie can't do much from the bottom here.

Muuskanen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Frankie has escaped the position, nice work there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Muuskanen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Frankie can do to turn this around?
Frankie is working to get back to half guard.
Frankie is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Muuskanen moves to his opponent's back but Frankie bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Muuskanen.
Muuskanen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Frankie's guard.

Muuskanen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Frankie is keeping the position for now.
Muuskanen looking to sit in guard and control but Frankie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Frankie is fighting to break Muuskanen's control of his arms but Muuskanen is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Muuskanen throws a head kick that misses.
Muuskanen sets himself, and Frankie steps forward looking for the clinch! Muuskanen avoids it this time.
Muuskanen shoots in looking for a takedown but Frankie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Muuskanen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Frankie is looking to clinch but Muuskanen is avoiding it.
Muuskanen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Frankie defends it nicely.
Mille Muuskanen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Muuskanen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Muuskanen keeping moving, preventing Frankie from controlling successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Muuskanen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Frankie on his heels. He'll look to pass Frankie's guard now, I'm sure.
Frankie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Frankie can't keep his opponent in guard - Muuskanen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Frankie wants to improve his position but Muuskanen is controlling well.

Muuskanen wants to pass the guard but Frankie is defending well.

Muuskanen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Frankie is just riding it out for now. Muuskanen eventually gives up the hold.

Frankie has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Frankie prevents Muuskanen from getting a body triangle.

Muuskanen working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Frankie is doing well to defend. Muuskanen seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Frankie is forced to tap and this one is over!
