Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diego Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iokepa Atabay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diego Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Iokepa Atabay! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez closes the distance and clinches. Sanchez jumps guard but Atabay turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Sanchez gets control of Atabay's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sanchez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Atabay must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Atabay trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom. Sanchez has his hands on Atabay's head, controlling the position. Sanchez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Atabay's guard.
Atabay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanchez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Atabay looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanchez sitting in guard, not really doing much. Sanchez stops Atabay from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Atabay looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sanchez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sanchez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Sanchez looking to pass the guard. Atabay wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Atabay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sanchez's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Atabay closes the distance and clinches. Atabay's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sanchez dives in and scores a takedown into Atabay's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Atabay keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully. Sanchez controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Atabay is keeping the position for now. Sanchez tries to stand but Atabay is controlling from the bottom. Sanchez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sanchez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Sanchez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Atabay swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Atabay tries to clinch up but Sanchez circles away and keeps his distance. Atabay shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sanchez defends it nicely. Sanchez is looking to counter the offense by Atabay and move into the clinch. Sanchez tries to clinch but Atabay is having none of it. A lazy body kick from Sanchez and Atabay counters with a series of strikes. Sanchez will be more careful next time no doubt. Sanchez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Atabay's half guard. Atabay has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sanchez is working away from the top position though. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sanchez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Sanchez dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Atabay tries a head kick but it misses.
Sanchez wants to clinch up but Atabay keeps it at a distance. Atabay darts in looking for a takedown but Sanchez gets double underhooks and turns Atabay into the cage. Sanchez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The referee asks Sanchez politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sanchez prefers to stall for the moment though. Atabay is trying to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Atabay tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sanchez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez stands up and beckons Atabay to his feet. Atabay tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sanchez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sanchez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Sanchez is working to tighten his grip on Atabay's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Atabay has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Sanchez is really squeezing tight and eventually Atabay passes out! Sanchez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Diego Sanchez!
