Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Pertti Poraaja! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Matthew Bagshaw! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bagshaw moves in looking to clinch but Poraaja pushes him off. Poraaja throws a sloppy head kick and Bagshaw moves out of range easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Bagshaw looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Bagshaw throws a jab but it's blocked by Poraaja. Poraaja misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Bagshaw misses with a takedown attempt - Poraaja sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Bagshaw looks to score with a jab to the body but Poraaja is just out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Poraaja keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Poraaja pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bagshaw throws a half hearted mid kick. Bagshaw blocks a head kick by Poraaja.
Bagshaw tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Bagshaw shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Poraaja but Poraaja pushes him off and we're back to square one. Pertti Poraaja has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Bagshaw. A punch combination from Poraaja misses. Bagshaw misses with a takedown attempt - Poraaja sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Poraaja throws a head kick that misses. Bagshaw misses with a straight right. Pertti Poraaja is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Poraaja misses with a kick to the body and Bagshaw counters with a one-two to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Bagshaw has a takedown stuffed. Bagshaw looks gassed! Bagshaw shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Poraaja pinned against the cage. Poraaja gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Poraaja throws a head kick that misses and Bagshaw counters with a good low kick that Poraaja was not able to check. A head kick by Poraaja misses and Bagshaw counters with a good low kick that Poraaja was not able to check. Matthew Bagshaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Poraaja throws a sloppy head kick and Bagshaw counters with a nice body kick. Bagshaw blocks a head kick by Poraaja.
Bagshaw looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Poraaja is fending him off so far but Bagshaw persists. Nope, Poraaja circles away and we're back to standing. Bagshaw closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Bagshaw prevents Poraaja from escaping the position. Bagshaw decides to stand up, so the ref orders Poraaja to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bagshaw is looking to clinch. Bagshaw shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Poraaja pinned against the cage. Poraaja gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Good leg kick by Bagshaw there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Bagshaw gets a takedown into half guard. Bagshaw slows the pace down in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bagshaw's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Poraaja wants to stand back up but Bagshaw manages to pass into side control.
Bagshaw controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Bagshaw dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Poraaja throws a head kick that misses and Poraaja takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Bagshaw scores a takedown into full mount! Poraaja is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Bagshaw has taken his back! Oooh a big shot gets through from Bagshaw. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Bagshaw really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Poraaja. Poraaja wants to get back to his feet. Poraaja is keeping busy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bagshaw biding his time, controlling Poraaja. Bagshaw wants to control but Poraaja manages to buck him off and is now in Bagshaw's guard! Nice work there by Poraaja! Poraaja wants to stand but Bagshaw has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Poraaja trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Poraaja throws a head kick that misses and Bagshaw counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Bagshaw controlling the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Poraaja wants to get back to his feet.
Poraaja kicks off Bagshaw and gets to his feet. Poraaja throws a lazy head kick and Bagshaw counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Poraaja's guard now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Poraaja is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Poraaja breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bagshaw misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Poraaja swats away the attempt to clinch by Bagshaw. Bagshaw doesn't manage to clinch there - Poraaja circles away.
Bagshaw throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Poraaja counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Bagshaw is lucky that one didn't land flush. Poraaja throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A head kick misses from Poraaja.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bagshaw connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Poraaja's hands. Poraaja throws a sloppy head kick and Bagshaw counters with a nice double leg into guard. Bagshaw trying to control but Poraaja is working from the bottom. Bagshaw controlling from the top position. Bagshaw slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Poraaja is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bagshaw has just dragged him back down to the mat. Poraaja on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Poraaja tries to get out of the position. Bagshaw is working to tighten is grip on Poraaja's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Poraaja has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Bagshaw is really squeezing tight and eventually Poraaja passes out! Bagshaw breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
