PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hong Holden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adam Edgar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hong Holden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Edgar!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edgar moves into range and clinches up with Holden.
Holden using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Edgar has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Edgar manages to break the clinch.
Holden really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Edgar doesn't manage to clinch there - Holden circles away.

Holden drives through with a takedown into Edgar's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Holden changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Edgar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Holden decides to stand back up.

Holden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Holden postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Holden will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Holden cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Edgar leaves Holden with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Edgar fails to land the takedown.
Edgar is breathing heavily.
Edgar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Holden sprawls well. Holden wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Edgar gets slowly back to his feet.

Edgar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Holden manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Holden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Holden changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Edgar tries to avoid it but Holden manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Edgar to the ground. Edgar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Edgar's coach down at ELITE University of Hard Knocks was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Edgar's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Edgar tries to close the distance and clinch up but Holden swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Adam Edgar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Edgar lands a nice hook to Holden's body. Holden takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Edgar shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Holden eats them both and turns towards Edgar to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Holden takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oh Holden is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Edgar tries to close the distance and clinch but Holden swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Edgar throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Holden shoots in for a takedown but Edgar shows good takedown defense.

Holden is looking to clinch but Edgar is avoiding it.
Holden will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Edgar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Holden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Edgar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Adam Edgar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Holden is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Edgar is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Adam Edgar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Edgar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
