PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rj Ingram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rj Ingram!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thiago Griffin !
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ingram tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Griffin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ingram lands with a kick to the temple. Griffin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Thiago Griffin has been cut.
Ingram shoots in looking for a takedown. Griffin tries to sprawl out of it but Ingram keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Griffin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ingram fails to land the takedown.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Ingram closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Griffin wants to stand back up but Ingram manages to pass into side control.
Griffin looks gassed!
Griffin wants to control but Ingram postures up.
Griffin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Griffin pushes Ingram away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ingram gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Ingram in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Ingram is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Griffin is looking to regain half guard here but Ingram keeps moving and retains side control.
Ingram wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffin keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ingram decides to stand up, so the ref orders Griffin to his feet.
Ingram shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Ingram shoots in but no luck this time.

Ingram clinches.
Ingram digs a right hand into Griffin 's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Griffin 's gas tank.
Griffin stalling in the clinch but Ingram improves position.

Griffin manages to break the clinch.
Ingram shoots in and drives through. Griffin sprawls well.

Ingram fails to land the takedown.
Ingram ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Ingram is looking to clinch.

Griffin moves into the clinch.
Griffin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ingram smiles and moves away.

Ingram gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ingram is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ingram keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.
Griffin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Thiago Griffin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ingram shoots for a double leg takedown but Griffin sprawls well. He's pushed Ingram's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Griffin lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Ingram closes the distance and clinches up with Griffin , looking for a takedown. Ingram pushes Griffin against the cage but Griffin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Griffin uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ingram has time to react.
Griffin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ingram shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Griffin as he jumps to the side.

Ingram avoids the elbow strike from Griffin , against the cage.
Ingram tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Griffin just stands there and leans against the cage.
Griffin lands an elbow inside that Ingram shrugs off.
Griffin has Ingram pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ingram manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Griffin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Ingram tries to pull guard but Griffin holds him up against the cage and eventually Ingram drops back down to his feet.

Rj Ingram is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Griffin wants to clinch.
Ingram tries for a takedown but Griffin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
No luck for Ingram with that takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ingram tries to close the distance and clinch but Griffin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Griffin lets loose with a powerful body kick. Ingram will feel that in the morning.

And that's the end of the fight!
Thiago Griffin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Griffin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
