Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richard Mcconnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Mcconnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitch Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson closes the distance looking to clinch
and Mcconnell cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Johnson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mcconnell is trying to defend but Johnson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Johnson tries to stand and escape but Mcconnell is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mcconnell throws a head kick that misses.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnson enables Mcconnell to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Johnson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mcconnell has picked Johnson up and slammed him! Johnson can't keep hold of the triangle and Mcconnell manages to pass to side control!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mcconnell goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Johnson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mcconnell but great work by Johnson.

Let's hope that Johnson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Johnson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Johnson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Mcconnell has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Johnson but great work by Mcconnell.

That was a close round but I would say that Richard Mcconnell will probably get the nod.

Johnson has his foot on Mcconnell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mcconnell works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A head kick misses from Mcconnell.
Johnson changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Johnson drives through and clinches with Mcconnell against the cage.

Johnson jumps into guard, dragging Mcconnell to the mat.

Johnson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mcconnell off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Mcconnell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mcconnell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mcconnell gets tackled into the cage by Johnson. Johnson maintains the clinch.
Mcconnell tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Johnson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Johnson has Mcconnell pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Johnson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mcconnell tumbling to the mat - Johnson dives into Mcconnell's guard.
Mcconnell is trying to control the position but Johnson postures up.

Johnson wants to control but Mcconnell passes easily into half guard.

Mcconnell is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Mcconnell eventually gives up the hold.

Mcconnell can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape.
Johnson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mcconnell throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Mcconnell unloads with some shots from mount but Johnson bucks and avoids them well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Mcconnell swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Johnson is now in Mcconnell's guard. A big mistake from Mcconnell there, giving up the dominant position!
Mcconnell not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcconnell is retaining full guard.
Mcconnell trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
Mcconnell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mcconnell is in close to Johnson's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Johnson scrambles and gets back to his feet.

I think Johnson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
