The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fernandez has managed to clinch.

Fernandez manages to break the clinch.
Issa on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Issa throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fernandez.
Issa thows a body kick. Fernandez tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Issa loads up on a big right hand but Fernandez slips the punch.
Fernandez is looking to land body kicks.
Issa is looking for a counter combo.

Issa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fernandez napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Issa throwing strikes but Fernandez manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Issa is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Issa manages to work his way to half guard, despite Fernandez's best efforts.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fernandez in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Issa is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Issa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Issa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fernandez defends well.

Fernandez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Issa misses with a straight right.

Fernandez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Issa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fernandez can do anything to dispel that myth.

Issa wants to control from the top but Fernandez keeps moving.

Fernandez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Issa stacks Fernandez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Issa!
Fernandez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Issa wants to finish this one by submission but Fernandez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Issa.
Fernandez is squirming around, avoiding Issa's attempts to control the action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Issa can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fernandez is looking to escape.
Issa lands a couple of good shots and Fernandez has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Issa slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Fernandez is trying to defend against the choke here but Issa has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Issa Tightens the hold and Fernandez taps out furiously! Issa displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
