PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bill Shadow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glin Burman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shadow kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Can't Be Touched. Glin Burman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bill Shadow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Glin Burman!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burman takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Shadow has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Elite Fighting Temple in the buildup to the fight.

Shadow moves into range and clinches up with Burman.
Shadow lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Shadow pushes Burman back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Burman is trying to maintain a safe position but Shadow gets an underhook and turns Burman into the cage.
Burman is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Shadow is keeping busy.
Burman is looking to control Shadow's arms but Shadow gets an underhook and turns him. Now Burman has his back to the cage.
Shadow pushes Burman back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Burman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Shadow lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Burman backwards.

Shadow breaks the clinch.
Burman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burman throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shadow stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Shadow decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Burman's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shadow wants to control from the top but Burman keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shadow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shadow trying to control but Burman is working from the bottom.
Burman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shadow accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Burman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Burman fakes the leg kick and cracks Shadow in the body.
Shadow jabs at Burman's body.
Burman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Shadow moves into the clinch.
Shadow pressing his opponent against the cage.
Burman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Shadow obliges.
Burman gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Shadow.
Shadow gets through Burman's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burman stalling in the clinch.
Shadow lands a nice uppercut.

Shadow has Burman pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Shadow pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Burman tumbling to the mat - Shadow dives into Burman's guard.
Shadow in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Shadow controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Burman keeping moving, preventing Shadow from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shadow tries to free his leg and advance position but Burman is retaining full guard.
Shadow trying to control but Burman is working from the bottom.
Shadow not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Shadow throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Shadow misses with a hook.
Shadow works the jab nicely.
Burman looks to score with a jab to the body but Shadow is just out of range.
Good shot there by Shadow.
A chopping leg kick lands by Shadow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bill Shadow dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Shadow pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Shadow takes a swing at Burman's ribcage but misses.
Burman shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Shadow drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Burman utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Shadow has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Burman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Burman wants to stand but Shadow is controlling the position.
Shadow postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burman wants to stand but Shadow is controlling the position.
Shadow throws an elbow that misses. Burman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shadow's guard. Nice move by Burman!


That's one minute gone in the round.
Burman postures up.
Shadow pulls Burman in close to his closed guard and prevents Burman from doing any damage or advancing position.

Shadow pushes a forearm under Burman's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Burman is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bill Shadow!
