PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Asa Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Brickle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brickle has chosen Brick House as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Asa Snow has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Asa Snow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Brickle!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ben Watson and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snow throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Brickle tries for a takedown but Snow circles away easily
and Snow counters with a low kick, right behind Brickle 's knee.
Snow scores with a sloppy right hand. Brickle should have avoided that one.
Brickle takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Snow gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Brickle drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Snow gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Snow breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Asa Snow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brickle takes one to the chin there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Brickle gets tackled into the cage by Snow. Snow maintains the clinch.
Snow tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Brickle is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Snow is defending well.
Asa Snow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Brickle.
Snow is trying to pull guard but Brickle turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Snow lands a shot to the body.
Brickle is looking to take this one to the mat.
Snow wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Snow jumps guard but Brickle turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Brickle has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Snow regains guard immediately.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Snow wants to sweep but no luck.
Snow wants to improve his position but instead Brickle has moved into half guard.
Snow missing with punches from the bottom.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Snow tries to roll over but Brickle keeps him under control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brickle tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Brickle performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
It looks like Brickle might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Brickle shoots and misses
and Snow cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Snow forces Brickle back against the cage and clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brickle can't get the takedown.
Snow tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Brickle's elbow.
Snow tries to pull guard but Brickle won't allow it.
Snow fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Brickle goes for a takedown in the clinch but Snow prevents it.
Snow doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Brickle is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Snow is defending well.
Snow manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Asa Snow dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Snow pushes Brickle up against the cage in a clinch.
Snow really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Snow stops a takedown attempt from Brickle.
Snow fails to pull guard.
Snow tries to pull guard but Brickle won't allow it.
Snow is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Snow pulls guard effortlessly.
Brickle scoring with some ground and pound.
Snow can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brickle controls the pace.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Brickle working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Snow is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Brickle is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Snow is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Snow fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Brickle, pushing him back against the cage.
Snow tries a body shot but Brickle blocks it.
Snow prevents a takedown attempt there.
Brickle missing with knees to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Snow fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Asa Snow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brickle is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Snow pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Snow is trying to force a seperation but Brickle has the dominant position.
Snow gets underhooks to prevent Brickle's takedown attempt.
Brickle drops down looking for an ankle pick but Snow pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Snow counters with a nice uppercut.
Brickle is breathing heavily.
Brickle doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Snow counters with a straight right hand.

Good standup being displayed there by Snow as he connects with a hook.

Snow forces Brickle back against the cage and clinches.
Snow wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Snow tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Brickle's elbow.
Snow stops a takedown attempt from Brickle.
Snow misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Brickle is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Snow is trying to break the clinch but Brickle has him pressed against the cage.
Snow has Brickle pushed against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Asa Snow dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Brickle drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Brickle takes one to the side of the head.

Snow rushes Brickle and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Brickle is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Snow gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Snow is looking to break free of the clinch but Brickle has double underhooks.
Snow tries to pull guard but Brickle forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snow wants to get back to striking at distance but Brickle won't allow it.

Brickle is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Snow can't fight it off and eventually Brickle manages to take the fight to the floor. Snow looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Snow thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Brickle passes Snow's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Snow tries to roll over but Brickle keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brickle is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Snow is trying to get back to full guard.
Well, if Brickle is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Snow moves into the clinch.
Brickle is trying to drag Snow to the mat but Snow just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Snow is trying to push Brickle away but Brickle has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Snow is trying to force a seperation but Brickle has the dominant position.
Snow tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Snow goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Snow doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Brickle tries to score a body lock takedown but Snow shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Asa Snow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Brickle.

Brickle has picked Snow up - he's going for a ride! Brickle dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Snow flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Brickle is taking a breather. Snow says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Snow tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Johnny Brickle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Asa Snow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Brickle content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Johnny Brickle comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Snow has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
