Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Brody (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shintaro Nomo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brody comes to the cage accompanied by Tom Petty - Won't Back Down. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Brody!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shintaro Nomo!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brody dodges the punch combination from Nomo.
Nomo throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Brody cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nomo defending well as Brody loads up on a big left hand.
Nomo is looking to score with low kicks.
Brody rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Nomo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nomo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brody doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nomo.

Brody is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at UNFC Elite Training, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Nomo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brody wants to get back to full guard.
Nomo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brody keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nomo is keen to just control but Brody is a slippery customer.

Brody is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nomo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Frank Brody is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Brody throws a series of strikes that have Nomo backpedaling.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brody throws a lazy right hand but Nomo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Nomo checks a leg kick.
Nomo digs a good body shot into Brody's ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shintaro Nomo dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Brody closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Brody throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Nomo on the side of the head.

Nomo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Brody's head.
Brody connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Nomo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Brody scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

That has opened up Shintaro Nomo's cut even more.
Brody stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brody wants it to stay on the feet.
Frank Brody has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shintaro Nomo.
Brody lands a nice shot to the body.
Nomo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Nomo takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nomo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Nomo darts in looking for a takedown but Brody gets double underhooks and turns Nomo into the cage.

Brody uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nomo.

Frank Brody seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nomo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Brody tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nomo is in Brody's guard.

Brody knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nomo on the ground.

Brody takes a swing at Nomo's ribcage but misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brody throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nomo.
Nomo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Brody. Brody circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Nomo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brody's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nomo sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Brody is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Nomo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Nomo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Brody has escaped the position, nice work there.

Let's hope that Nomo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Nomo stuns Brody with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Nomo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brody.

Shintaro Nomo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nomo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
