PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Omer Moss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cris DeSalvo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DeSalvo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Let's Get Rocked. The key to victory for Omer Moss has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Omer Moss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cris DeSalvo!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Moss decides to pull guard.

DeSalvo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
DeSalvo trying to control but Moss is working from the bottom.
DeSalvo sitting in guard, not really doing much.
It looks like DeSalvo might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moss looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
DeSalvo landing some decent shots from guard.
DeSalvo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
DeSalvo wants to pass the guard but Moss is keeping the position.
Moss could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Moss tries to land a sweep but no joy.
DeSalvo working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as DeSalvo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
DeSalvo stopping the sweep attempt from Moss.
DeSalvo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Moss's head.
Moss is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Moss escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. DeSalvo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
DeSalvo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
DeSalvo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
DeSalvo slips nicely into half guard.
Moss wants to improve his position but DeSalvo is controlling well.
DeSalvo is looking to take a break and control but Moss is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are battling for position here. Moss manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Moss might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Moss is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

DeSalvo content to stall in guard here.
DeSalvo's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
DeSalvo working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
DeSalvo controlling from the top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
DeSalvo shoots in but Moss avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Moss stuffs the takedown.
Moss throws a counter high kick but DeSalvo was just alert enough to avoid it.
DeSalvo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Moss fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Omer Moss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cris DeSalvo.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Moss moves into the clinch successfully.

Moss gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Moss is working for a kimura but DeSalvo is defending it quite comfortably.

Moss looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Omer Moss dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Moss pushes DeSalvo up against the cage in a clinch.

Moss gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DeSalvo has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
DeSalvo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

DeSalvo is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Moss has his hands clasped together but DeSalvo extends and breaks Moss's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by DeSalvo.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cris DeSalvo!
Cris DeSalvo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
