Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Adam Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darwingh Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adam Edgar has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Edgar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darwingh Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edgar goes for a double leg but Alvarez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Alvarez continues to drive forward.
Alvarez has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Alvarez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

and Edgar counters with a nice uppercut.
Alvarez stuffs the takedown attempt from Edgar. Edgar gets slowly back to his feet.
Edgar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alvarez as he avoids it easily.
Alvarez wants to counter the offense by Edgar and move into the clinch position.

Alvarez dives in and scores a takedown into Edgar's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvarez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Edgar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Alvarez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Alvarez gets caught flat footed, as Edgar shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Edgar drops back looking for a leg! Alvarez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alvarez manages to kick Edgar off! Edgar jumps back into Alvarez's guard.

Alvarez is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Edgar presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Edgar has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Alvarez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Edgar manages to break the clinch.
Edgar lands a jab-cross combination.
Edgar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Edgar tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alvarez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Edgar somewhat.
As Edgar backs off Alvarez throws a huge counter combo but Edgar manages to avoid it all.

Despite the aggression on Alvarez's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Edgar scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Alvarez wants to clinch but Edgar slips to the side
and Edgar cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Edgar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Alvarez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Alvarez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's time! Edgar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


The fight stays on the outside here - Edgar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Edgar is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

A frustrated look appears on Alvarez's face as he tries to break the clinch.

and Edgar counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Edgar is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Alvarez can't fight it off and eventually Edgar manages to take the fight to the floor. Alvarez looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Alvarez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Edgar stacks Alvarez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Edgar!
Alvarez can't do much from the bottom here.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Edgar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alvarez can do to turn this around?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Alvarez's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Edgar connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Alvarez scrambles back to his feet.
Adam Edgar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Edgar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alvarez is fending him off so far but Edgar persists. Nope, Alvarez circles away and we're back to standing.

Alvarez does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Edgar throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Alvarez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Edgar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Alvarez holds on and takes a little breather.

I would just about give that final round to Darwingh Alvarez.
Well Edgar has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
