Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Tippin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Barnett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pete Tippin! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Francis DeMontford and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tippin misses with a double jab.
Barnett shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tippin but Tippin pushes him off and we're back to square one. Barnett fails to land the takedown. Barnett is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tippin's half guard. Barnett throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Barnett seems to be working for a kimura but Tippin defends the submission attempt. Barnett prevents Tippin from improving his position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tippin trying to control here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Tippin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Barnett pulls his head out easily. Tippin is defending against the submission attempts here by Barnett.
Tippin keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Tippin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Tippin is looking for a triangle but Barnett pushes his legs off easily.
Tippin controls Barnett momentarily but Barnett frees himself. Our spies down at at Beat Down Under inform us that Tippin has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Barnett trying to control but Tippin is working from the bottom. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Barnett advances position into side control! We've been hearing that Barnett has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Tippin regains half guard. Tippin wants to control but Barnett is keeping busy and won't allow it. Barnett is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tippin has managed to free his arm - good work. Barnett is looking to take a break and control but Tippin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Tippin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Barnett is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Tippin sees it coming and defends easily. Barnett is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tippin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Barnett scores with a couple of nice shots. Barnett wants to take a breather but Tippin is having none of it. Tippin moves into full guard.
Barnett won't allow Tippin to sweep him here. Tippin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tippin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Barnett trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Barnett working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tippin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barnett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Barnett thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Barnett is pushing down on Tippin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tippin is fighting to maintain full guard but Barnett has managed to sneak the leg through. Barnett throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Barnett is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tippin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Barnett. Tippin is looking to control Barnett's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tippin avoid being mounted? Barnett is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Tippin!
That's five minutes gone in the round. Barnett can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tippin is looking to escape. Barnett goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Tippin is on top in guard.
Barnett keeping moving, preventing Tippin from controlling successfully. Barnett is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tippin is aware though and is defending well. Tippin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barnett has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tippin has managed to get both his arms back between Barnett's legs - danger averted. Tippin scoring with some ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tippin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Barnett wants to stand but Tippin is controlling the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Barnett is on top in guard.
Barnett postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Tippin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barnett is one step ahead there. Barnett landing with the ground and pound.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Tippin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Barnett wants to pass the guard but Tippin is keeping the position. Barnett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tippin works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Barnett trying to control the position from guard on top but Tippin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Barnett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Tippin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barnett doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barnett manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Tippin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Barnett. Barnett advances position into side control!
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Barnett is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tippin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Barnett throws an elbow but Tippin slips to the side and avoids it well. Tippin is trying to improve his position. Barnett scoring with punches and elbows. Barnett wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tippin, who protects the arm well. Tippin isn't going anywhere. Tippin manages to get back to half guard.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Barnett is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tippin has managed to free his arm - good work. Barnett working over Tippin with some ground and pound. Tippin looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Tippin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Tippin wants to control but Barnett is keeping busy and won't allow it. Tippin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Barnett missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Barnett landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It looks like Josh Barnett has been cut. Tippin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Barnett! Josh Barnett overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Tippin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. An elbow from Tippin crashes against the mat.
Barnett is trying to get back to half guard. Barnett takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Barnett is looking for a sweep. Barnett explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barnett works his way back into a safe position though. Tippin has a loose triangle. Barnett doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barnett manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Barnett trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Tippin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Barnett postures up and lands a big shot to Tippin's brow. Barnett advances position into side control! Tippin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Barnett tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tippin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Barnett is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tippin can do to turn this around? Tippin taking some punishment here, with Barnett in his half guard.

Tippin is rocked! Tippin pushes Barnett off looking to stand but Barnett dives back in and keeps control.

Barnett lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Tippin quite badly. Tippin pulls Barnett in close trying to recover. Barnett postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Tippin on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Tippin doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

A very excited looking Josh Barnett made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet.
