Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Pearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Niga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that James Pearson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily James Pearson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Pearson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roy Niga! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pearson forces Niga back against the cage and clinches. Niga is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pearson to keep the fight standing. Pearson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Niga.
Niga has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pearson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. James Pearson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Niga. Pearson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. A battle for position here, against the cage. Niga throws a knee to the head but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pearson lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Niga or not. Niga looks winded! Pearson breaks the clinch.
Pearson has closed the distance and engaged Niga in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pearson is pushing Niga up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Pearson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Pearson pulls Niga in to control the position. Pearson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Pearson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pearson tries to get out of the position. Pearson wants to sweep but no luck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pearson is controlling Niga's posture. Pearson working for a triangle but Niga defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pearson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Niga manages to get himself to full guard.
Pearson stands up and waves to Niga to follow him. James Pearson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pearson tries to keep at a distance but Niga has taken the fight into the clinch. Pearson has picked Niga up - he's going for a ride! Pearson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Niga has eaten all the pies! Pearson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pearson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Pearson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Niga to stand up. Niga shoots and misses and Pearson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Pearson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Pearson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pearson manages to end up in side control. Pearson tries to move to mount but Niga blocks the move with his legs. Pearson in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pearson advances to full mount. Pearson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Pearson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Niga is just holding on here. Pearson manages to take his back.

Pearson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Niga drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Niga is trying to maintain a safe position but Pearson gets an underhook and turns Niga into the cage. Pearson gets a trip takedown into half guard. Pearson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Niga can do to turn this around? Pearson tries to pass to full mount but Niga defends it. Pearson is trying to work for a kimura but Niga is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pearson decides to stand up. James Pearson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Niga looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. An attempted straight right counter from Pearson misses the target. Niga misses with a kick to the body and Pearson counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Niga! Niga is breathing heavily. Pearson tries to pass to full mount but Niga defends it. Pearson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Pearson is working for a kimura but Niga is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pearson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Pearson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Niga doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pearson. Pearson is looking for a kimura but Niga is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pearson to get the leverage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pearson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Niga knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. James Pearson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pearson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pearson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Further stalling from Pearson.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Pearson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Pearson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Niga to stand up. Pearson forces Niga back against the cage and clinches. Pearson gets control of Niga's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pearson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Pearson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Niga doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Niga manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Pearson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pearson controlling Niga's posture. Pearson has his feet on Niga's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Niga trying to control the position from guard on top but Pearson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Niga throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Pearson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Niga is aware though and is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pearson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Oooh a lovely combination from Pearson sends Niga down but not out. Pearson dives into side control looking to finish.
Niga is rocked!
It looks like Roy Niga has been cut. Pearson lands a big elbow and you can see that really hurt Niga! Pearson senses the opportunity and scores with more strikes - he's put Niga out! The ref tackles him out of the way to prevent him landing more strikes - this one is all over!
