Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brady Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barnes comes to the cage accompanied by Young Buck, TI, The Game, & Ludacris - Stomp. The key to victory for Brady Barnes has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brady Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wanderlei Cruz! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barnes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Barnes jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Cruz has his takedown stuffed and Barnes counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Barnes lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
It looks like Wanderlei Cruz has been cut. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Barnes, as that shot connected.
Cruz is rocked! Barnes connects with an inside leg kick. Cruz shoots for a takedown but Barnes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Brady Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Cruz. Barnes throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cruz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Barnes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Barnes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cruz gets the takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cruz is looking to take a break and control but Barnes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Barnes is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz trying to control the position but Barnes is working away. Cruz taking a breather here. Cruz trying to control the action but Barnes is working from the bottom. Cruz controls the position. Cruz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Barnes is looking for a sweep. Barnes is not content to let Cruz control the position. Barnes is looking to regain half guard here but Cruz keeps moving and retains side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barnes wants to control but Cruz postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Barnes looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cruz misses with a takedown attempt - Barnes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Barnes appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Cruz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barnes as he jumps to the side. Cruz moves out of range as Barnes throws a body kick.
Cruz tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Barnes throws a head kick that misses. Cruz shoots in and drives through. Barnes sprawls well. Cruz shoots in for a takedown but Barnes shows good takedown defense. Barnes with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cruz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Barnes stuffs the takedown attempt from Cruz. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barnes throws a good cross that connects.
Barnes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cruz. Barnes throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Cruz shoots for a double leg takedown but Barnes sprawls well. He's pushed Cruz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. No luck for Cruz with that takedown attempt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cruz. Barnes explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Cruz looks winded! Barnes scoring well with a low kick there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Barnes throws a half hearted mid kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brady Barnes dominated that round. The cut man is working on Wanderlei Cruz's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Barnes lands with a kick to the ribs.
Cruz misses with a takedown and Barnes counters with a nice body shot. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cruz is defended easily by Barnes. Cruz takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Cruz is breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cruz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Barnes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Brady Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Cruz. Barnes throws a front kick that sends Cruz stumbling back into the cage. Cruz doesn't succeed with the takedown and Barnes counters with a straight right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barnes connects with a leg kick. Cruz looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Barnes lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Cruz takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. A jab lands there for Barnes. Cruz is still on wobbly legs! Can Barnes finish him? Barnes thows a body kick. Cruz tries to catch it but that hurt him. Barnes lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cruz's sensitive parts. Cruz sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Cruz seems to have recovered his senses. BOOM! Barnes lands a beautiful left hook that drops Cruz. Cruz tries to recover but Barnes is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Cruz lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brady Barnes! Brady Barnes really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that The Empire Clothing and Laundry logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
