Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Bedford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xavier Worner! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bedford scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Worner wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bedford wants to work for an arm triangle but Worner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Worner is trying to control but can't.
Bedford prevents Worner from improving his position. Bedford knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Worner on the ground. Bedford wants to pass the guard but Worner is defending well. Bedford wants to stand up but Worner is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bedford is looking for a kimura but Worner is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bedford to get the leverage. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Bedford really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Worner tries to kick Bedford off but Bedford keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Both fighters circling a little - Worner finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Worner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Worner moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Worner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bedford pinned against the cage. Bedford gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. As Worner looks to move away, Bedford throws a big counter combo bu Worner just gets out of the way. Bedford fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Worner to the ground. Bedford is now in Worner's guard. Worner not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bedford won't allow Worner to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Worner wants to hit a switch here but Bedford passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Worner there! A nice elbow there by Bedford. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bedford is standing up, even though he is in mount. Bedford fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Worner sprawls well initially but Bedford persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Bedford prevents Worner from standing back up.
Bedford tries to pass the half guard into mount. Worner knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Bedford looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bedford is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Worner tries to get to full guard but Bedford has control of the leg. Worner trying to control from the bottom.
Bedford throws a strike but Worner avoids it easily and moves to full guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Bedford pushing down on Worner's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Bedford seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Bedford passes to full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bedford lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Worner bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Bedford controlling the position. Bedford trying to control the position.
Bedford wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Worner wants to stand but Bedford has a closed guard, so he can't escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Bedford dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Worner lands a head shot. Worner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bedford. Worner misses with a series of wild punches.
Bedford is looking to counter the offense by Worner and move into the clinch. Worner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bedford moves away. Bedford rushes Worner and presses him up against the cage. Worner looking to stall.
Bedford breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bedford gets control of Worner's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bedford will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Bedford is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Worner can do to turn this around?
That's one minute gone in the round. Bedford working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Worner. Worner is looking to stand up but Bedford won't let him. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Worner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Bedford wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Worner wants to control from the top but Bedford keeps moving. Bedford seems keen to control Worner's posture. Worner tries to stand but Bedford is controlling from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Worner wants to control from the top but Bedford keeps moving.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Worner fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Bedford moves into the clinch. A shot in the inside from Bedford. Worner landing knees to the body.
Bedford's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bedford shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bedford was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Bedford tries to stand but Worner is controlling his head. Bedford working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Worner tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bedford wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Bedford tries for a kimura but Worner is defending well. Bedford lands an elbow. Bedford wants to control but Worner is keeping him busy. You can see the frustration on Worner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Bedford content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Bedford is putting a hurting on Worner here, landing some big shots from side control. Johnny Bedford overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Bedford wants to stand but Worner is controlling his arm. Worner wants to control but Bedford postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Excellent takedown into side control there by Bedford. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Worner is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bedford connects with a decent elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Worner tries for a takedown but Bedford circles away easily and Bedford holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Bedford keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Worner's efforts to push away. Bedford pulls Worner into guard.
Worner passes into half guard. Bedford is not content to let Worner control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bedford looks like he's trying to stand up.
