PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Dillinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Brad Dillinger was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Kang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brad Dillinger!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dillinger blocks a head kick by Kang.

Dillinger decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kang wants to get back to his feet.
Dillinger passes the guard and advances to mount!
Kang tries to lock up and control but Dillinger gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dillinger throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Dillinger wants to control the pace but Kang is squirming around nicely.
Dillinger throws some wild stikes that Kang manages to avoid easily.

Dillinger jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kang manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kang can't do much from the bottom here.
Kang on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kang tries to get out of the position.

Kang tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kang wants to get back to his feet.
Dillinger tries to move to mount but Kang blocks the move with his legs.

Dillinger takes a little break here. Kang wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Dillinger has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dillinger postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kang fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dillinger lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Dillinger connects with a solid leg kick.
Kang avoids the body shot from Dillinger.
Dillinger has a takedown stuffed.
A head kick from Dillinger lands but Kang takes it in his stride.
Kang misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

No luck for Kang with that takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dillinger.
Kang is looking for a counter combo.
A head kick by Dillinger misses
and Kang counters with a straight right hand.

Dillinger clinches up with Kang and pushes him back against the cage.
Kang blocks a body shot from Dillinger.
Kang has had enough of the clinch but Dillinger keeps him there for the moment.

Kang breaks the clinch.
Dillinger displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kang.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Kang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kang closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dillinger wants to control but Kang is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Dillinger dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kang throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dillinger changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kang tries to avoid it but Dillinger manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kang to the ground. Kang escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kang shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dillinger's guard.

Dillinger manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Kang wants to break the clinch but can't.

Some wild striking there from Dillinger.

Dillinger gets caught napping as Kang dives in and scores a takedown. Dillinger manages to retain guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dillinger not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Dillinger looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Kang in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Kang postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kang knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dillinger on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kang with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dillinger is on top in guard.

Dillinger throws an elbow that misses. Kang uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dillinger's guard. Nice move by Kang!

Dillinger wants to sweep here but Kang controlling him for the moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kang's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Dillinger is trying to control the position but Kang postures up.
Kang won't allow Dillinger to get back to his feet.
Kang postures up in Dillinger's guard and throws a big left but Dillinger blocks it.

Dillinger has momentary wrist control but Kang slips an elbow through the middle.

Kang lands a couple of digs.
Kang tries to free his leg and advance position but Dillinger is retaining full guard.

Kang is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Kang has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kang makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Kang throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dillinger works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dillinger is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Kang presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Dillinger has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kang avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Kang wants to get back to striking at distance but Dillinger won't allow it.

Kang drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dillinger throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Kang shoots in for a takedown but Dillinger shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dillinger wants to counter with a clinch but Kang pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Kang dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Kang misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Dillinger tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kang sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dillinger somewhat.
Kang avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nick Kang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kang throws a sloppy head kick and Dillinger moves out of range easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dillinger looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kang looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Nice takedown defense from Kang. No joy for Dillinger on that attempt.
Nick Kang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brad Dillinger.
Kang will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kang shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dillinger as he avoids it easily.
Dillinger tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kang manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kang shoots in and bounces Dillinger off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Dillinger won't let Kang get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nick Kang.
I think Kang has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
