Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joesph Wyatt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jed Masters! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Masters shoots in looking for a takedown but Wyatt manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Masters's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Masters dives in and grabs Wyatt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wyatt pushes down on Masters's head and hops out. Masters shoots in for a takedown but Wyatt shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Joesph Wyatt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jed Masters. Masters dives in and grabs Wyatt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wyatt pushes down on Masters's head and hops out. Masters shoots in looking for a takedown but Wyatt manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Masters's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Masters shoots for a double leg takedown but Wyatt sprawls well. He's pushed Masters's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Wyatt displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Masters. Masters looks winded! Nice sprawl there from Wyatt as Masters shoots in. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Masters shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Wyatt half committed to a counter leg kick. Masters goes for a double leg but Wyatt avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wyatt continues to drive forward. Wyatt gets a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wyatt scores with a shoulder strike. Wyatt has Masters pressed against the cage, preventing Masters from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Wyatt drags the fight down to the ground.
Masters is fighting to break Wyatt's control of his arms but Wyatt is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Masters scoring with some ground and pound. Masters postures up in Wyatt's guard and throws a big left but Wyatt blocks it. Masters advances to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wyatt is refusing to be controlled, as Masters sits in half guard. Masters might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Wyatt haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Masters is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Masters darts in looking for a takedown but Wyatt gets double underhooks and turns Masters into the cage. Wyatt drops down looking for a counter takedown but Masters sprawls and moves away. Masters is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Masters is trying to break the clinch but Wyatt is controlling him. Masters gets underhooks to prevent Wyatt's takedown attempt.
Masters dodges an elbow strike from Wyatt.
Masters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Masters throws a series of punches but Wyatt moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Masters moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Masters darts in looking for a takedown but Wyatt gets double underhooks and turns Masters into the cage. Wyatt tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Masters manages to circle out of the way. Masters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Wyatt closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Masters's guard. Wyatt is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Wyatt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Wyatt stands up and waves to Masters to follow him. Masters shoots in for a takedown but Wyatt shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Wyatt shoots in and gets a takedown into Masters's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wyatt gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Wyatt looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Masters! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wyatt tries for a kimura but Masters is defending well. Wyatt scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Masters to see if he's OK. Masters is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Wyatt is trying to get an arm triangle but Masters is defending well. Wyatt tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joesph Wyatt dominated that round. That's time! Wyatt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Wyatt gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Masters to score an easy takedown into full guard. Masters looking to sit in guard and control but Wyatt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Masters tries to land a sweep but no joy. Masters controls Wyatt momentarily but Wyatt frees himself. Masters is looking to stand up but Wyatt isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wyatt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Masters has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wyatt has managed to get both his arms back between Masters's legs - danger averted. Wyatt postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Wyatt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Masters can do to turn this around? Wyatt gets to his feet. Masters looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Masters gets caught flat footed, as Wyatt shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Masters is breathing heavily. Wyatt postures up.
Wyatt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Masters on the ground. Wyatt is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Wyatt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Masters for as long as he can get away with. Wyatt has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Masters wants to sweep here but Wyatt controlling him for the moment. Wyatt controlling from the top position. Masters is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wyatt is aware though and is defending well. Masters will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Masters with a lazy takedown attempt and Wyatt counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wyatt. Wyatt postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Wyatt stays in close to Masters's body and controls the position. Masters doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wyatt cracks Masters with a solid left hand. Masters tries to land a sweep but no joy. Wyatt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wyatt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Wyatt lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Wyatt landing some decent shots from guard. Wyatt loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Masters looking for a sweep. Not yet Masters, not yet. Wyatt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Wyatt gets to his feet - Masters follows without any prompting.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Wyatt drives through with a takedown into guard. Wyatt controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Masters not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Masters pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Masters looks for a takedown but Wyatt sprawls well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wyatt closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wyatt lands in his opponent's guard. Wyatt's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wyatt stands and steps away. Masters gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Masters takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Masters misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wyatt.
Jed Masters is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Masters tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wyatt defends well and Masters ends up having to push Wyatt into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Wyatt looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Masters! Wyatt working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wyatt stands up and beckons Masters to his feet. Masters shoots in and drives through. Wyatt sprawls well. Joesph Wyatt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jed Masters. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Wyatt takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Wyatt works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wyatt with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Wyatt scoring with punches to the head and body. Wyatt working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Wyatt looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Wyatt decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Masters shoots in looking for a takedown. Wyatt tries to sprawl out of it but Masters keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wyatt manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. As Masters tries to get set, Wyatt tries to push him back and clinch up but Masters manages to avoid the attempt.

Masters throws a head punch that misses. Masters wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wyatt has him pressed against the cage. Wyatt using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Masters has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Masters fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wyatt lands a damaging elbow. Masters wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Wyatt goes for a takedown in the clinch but Masters prevents it.
Masters has had enough of the clinch but Wyatt keeps him there for the moment. Wyatt with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Masters is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Wyatt throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Masters blocks it with crossed arms. Wyatt with a knee to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wyatt has Masters pressed against the cage, preventing Masters from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Masters wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wyatt has him pressed against the cage. Jed Masters has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Joesph Wyatt is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Masters has a couple of punches blocked by Wyatt.
And that's the end of the fight! Joesph Wyatt showed his dominance in that final round. Well Wyatt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
