PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lee Sin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sin comes to the cage accompanied by Lee Sin - By Riot. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lee Sin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Overeem!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Overeem misses with a right hand

and Sin counters with a head kick that drops Overeem to the mat! Overeem scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Overeem is rocked!

Overeem gets the takedown into side control.
Overeem is still in real trouble! Can Sin finish him?
Overeem wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sin keeps working.
Overeem seems to have recovered his senses.
Sin gets back to half guard.
Sin is trying to get back to full guard.
Sin moves into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Overeem wants to control from the top but Sin keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Overeem tries to free his leg and advance position but Sin is retaining full guard.
Overeem trying to control but Sin is working from the bottom.

Sin throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Overeem trying to control the position from guard on top but Sin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Overeem misses with a hook
and Sin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sin cracks Overeem with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
A big left from Overeem misses.
Sin tries to counter by clinching up but Overeem breaks away and moves out of range.

Overeem gets the takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Sin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Overeem tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Overeem trying to control the position but Sin is working away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Overeem is trying to get an arm triangle but Sin is defending well.
Overeem trying to control the action but Sin is working from the bottom.
Sin is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Turka Elite Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Overeem in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Overeem wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Overeem staying calm.
Overeem tries to advance to mount but can't.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Overeem in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Peter Overeem will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Overeem misses with a looping right.
Overeem shoots in looking for a takedown but Sin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Overeem's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A big left from Overeem misses.
Overeem throws an off balance right hand
and Sin counters with an inside leg kick.
Sin slips under a jab from Overeem.
Sin is looking to counter the offense by Overeem and move into the clinch.
Sin connects with a good right hand that stumbles Overeem. Overeem circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Overeem misses with a takedown
and Sin counters with a good low kick that Overeem was not able to check.
Sin lands a nice looking kick to the body. Overeem takes a step back to recover.
Sin scores with a nice body kick.
Peter Overeem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sin wants to clinch.
Sin throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like Peter Overeem has been cut.
Overeem is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice leg kick lands there from Sin.
Sin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Overeem can do to turn this around?
Overeem throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
As Overeem tries to get set, Sin tries to push him back and clinch up but Overeem manages to avoid the attempt.
Overeem tries for a takedown but Sin circles away easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Lee Sin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Overeem.
Overeem takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Sin is looking to slow Overeem down with leg kicks.
Whack! Sin lands a heavy head kick that drops Overeem. The ref tackles Sin to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Overeem was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Lee Sin!
Lee Sin retains his lightweight title!
Post fight, Lee Sin took to the microphone: 'Blindness is no impairment against a smelly enemy.'.
