Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ellis Mccullough! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Rock! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Hugh Johnson and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mccullough fails with the takedown. Rock throws a right hand that Mccullough ducks under and follows up with a left that Mccullough also avoids with ease. Rock lands with a nice combination. Mccullough backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Ellis Mccullough has been cut. Mccullough looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Rock leaves Mccullough with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ellis Mccullough. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rock throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mccullough stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rock throws a series of punches but Mccullough moves out of range. It looked like Mccullough was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Rock throws a body kick that misses. Mccullough fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Rock throws out a counter right but Mccullough avoids it with no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mccullough moves into the clinch successfully.
Rock breaks the clinch.
Mccullough tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rock swivels and escapes. Rock tries to bum rush Mccullough with a series of wild strikes but Mccullough uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Mccullough drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Rock jabs at Mccullough's body. Rock throws a sloppy head kick and Mccullough moves out of range easily. Rock looks winded! Sloppy strikes from Rock. Those never looked like landing. Rock swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Johnny Rock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rock throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mccullough. Mccullough appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mccullough throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rock's waist but Rock gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mccullough off to one side. As Mccullough backs off Rock throws a huge counter combo but Mccullough manages to avoid it all. Rock throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rock throws a head kick but Mccullough moves out of range.
Mccullough really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Sloppy strikes from Rock. Those never looked like landing. Mccullough seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Rock throws a leg kick and Mccullough counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mccullough shoots in for a takedown but Rock shows good takedown defense. Mccullough goes for a double leg but Rock avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rock continues to drive forward. Rock misses with the combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mccullough has his takedown stuffed enabling Rock to counter with a crisp jab. Rock throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mccullough shoots for a double leg takedown but Rock sprawls well. He's pushed Mccullough's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rock lands a leg kick that knocks Mccullough off balance momentarily. Rock looks to land a combination but Mccullough avoids it well. A leg kick checked by Mccullough. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mccullough. Rock looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mccullough blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Mccullough breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rock scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Rock thows a body kick. Mccullough tries to catch it but that hurt him. Rock misses with a kick to the body.
Mccullough seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Mccullough moves into the clinch. Mccullough blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mccullough has Rock pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rock manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Mccullough tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Rock has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mccullough is trying to keep an underhook but Rock manages to get the takedown into half guard. Rock looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mccullough with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Rock dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ellis Mccullough's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Mccullough fails with a takedown attempt. A punch combination from Rock misses. Mccullough appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Rock lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mccullough circles away quickly and effectively. Rock pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Mccullough back to the cage. Rock follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Mccullough is rocked! Rock lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Mccullough out cold! Mccullough is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!
