Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rez Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cortez's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Can We Still Be Friends. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rez Cortez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
33 - 28 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hoy Nelson! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cortez misses with a body shot.
Rez Cortez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nelson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cortez looks to throw the jab but Nelson is out of range. Cortez throws a right and a left that Nelson avoids nicely. Cortez scores with a body shot.
Nelson connects with an inside leg kick. Nelson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Cortez scores with a three punch combo!
Nelson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cortez seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Cortez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Cortez throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Nelson unleashes a big counter combination but Cortez bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Nelson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nelson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cortez.
Nelson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Cortez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cortez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. A punch combination from Cortez misses. Cortez falls off balance throwing a combination
and Nelson counters with a three punch combo that has Cortez backing up. Cortez nods at Nelson to acknowledge the strikes. A combination from Cortez does no damage. Cortez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Nelson counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Cortez working aggressively here.
Nelson has Cortez pressed against the cage, preventing Cortez from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Cortez misses with some punches.
Knees in the clinch landing for Nelson.
Cortez is breathing heavily. Nelson stalls. Cortez has had enough of the clinch but Nelson keeps him there for the moment. Nelson scores a nice knee to the body.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nelson is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson lands a good knee to the midsection. Cortez won't want to take too many of those. Nelson has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head and Cortez goes down! Nelson dives on top of him - Cortez manages to get guard.
Cortez is rocked!
It looks like Rez Cortez has been cut. Nelson loads up on a big left hand. Cortez felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Nelson looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Cortez can't hide his disappointment, as Nelson celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hoy Nelson! Our winner, Hoy Nelson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
