Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zdeno Chara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spurt Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zdeno Chara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Spurt Reynolds! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chara avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chara's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Reynolds connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Chara scrambles back to his feet. Chara tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Reynolds fails with the takedown. The fight moves into the clinch position. Chara pulls Reynolds into guard.
Reynolds throws an elbow that misses. Chara uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Reynolds's guard. Nice move by Chara!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chara advances to half guard. Reynolds strikes from the bottom but Chara uses the opportunity to move to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Chara is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Reynolds has escaped the position, nice work there. Chara decides to stand up, so the ref orders Reynolds to his feet. Chara bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Chara shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Reynolds's guard. Our spies down at at Rancid Fight Club inform us that Reynolds has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Reynolds is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Reynolds keeping moving, preventing Chara from controlling successfully. Chara is pushing down on Reynolds's leg trying to pass to half guard. Reynolds is fighting to maintain full guard but Chara has managed to sneak the leg through. Reynolds trying to control but Chara postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chara is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Reynolds defends it well. Reynolds gets back to full guard.

Chara pushing down on Reynolds's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Chara is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Reynolds has managed to free his arm - good work. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Chara throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chara wants to pass to mount but Reynolds is defending the position. Chara is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Reynolds doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chara. Chara wants to pass to mount but Reynolds is defending the position. Chara is looking to take a break and control but Reynolds is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Reynolds looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Reynolds is looking to control Chara's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Reynolds avoid being mounted? Reynolds is looking to get back to full guard here but Chara has managed to pass to side control instead. Reynolds taking a bit of punishment here - Chara scoring with strikes. Chara looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Chara has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chara tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chara has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Chara is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Reynolds has escaped the position, nice work there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reynolds lands with a left to the head. Reynolds struggles to land a body shot inside as Chara controls his hands.
Chara tries to score a body lock takedown but Reynolds shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Reynolds presses Chara against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Chara is looking for a takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zdeno Chara. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reynolds tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Reynolds makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Reynolds tries to throw a body punch but Chara avoids it by throwing Reynolds back against the cage. Reynolds misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Chara ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Chara no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Reynolds lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reynolds content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Reynolds throws a big elbow that misses. Chara has control of Reynolds's left arm, preventing Reynolds from doing any damage. Reynolds looking to pass the guard. Reynolds trying to control but Chara is working from the bottom. Reynolds must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Reynolds throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chara works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Reynolds looking to improve position, pressing down on Chara's thigh with his hand. Chara seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Reynolds paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Reynolds's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Chara picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
