Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Boss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Salva Vazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kurt Boss! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Salva Vazquez! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vazquez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Boss is looking to clinch. Vazquez gets in close and instigates a clinch. Vazquez stops a takedown attempt from Boss.
Vazquez prevents the takedown attempt.
Boss decides to pull guard. Vazquez trying to stand up but can't free himself from Boss's guard. Boss keeping moving, preventing Vazquez from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vazquez stops Boss from standing up. Boss trying to control the position here. Vazquez looking to sit in guard and control but Boss gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boss trying to control but Vazquez is working from the bottom. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vazquez is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vazquez wants to pass the guard but Boss is keeping the position. Vazquez trying to control but Boss is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Boss looking for a guillotine here but Vazquez defends easily.
Boss lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Vazquez trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Vazquez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Boss preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boss is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Boss wants to pass the guard but Vazquez is keeping the position. Boss is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Vazquez working for a triangle but Boss defends it easily.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Vazquez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt Boss. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Boss closes the distance and clinches. Vazquez goes for a takedown in the clinch but Boss prevents it.

Vazquez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Vazquez tries to pull guard but Boss won't allow it.
Boss landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Boss lands with a shot to the body. Vazquez looks winded! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Vazquez leaves Boss with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Boss rushes Vazquez and presses him up against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kurt Boss dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Boss. Vazquez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Boss. Nice sprawl there from Boss as Vazquez shoots in. Vazquez with a lazy takedown attempt and Boss counters by clinching up. Boss slowing the pace effectively. Boss pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boss is defended easily by Vazquez. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt Boss. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boss stuffs the takedown attempt from Vazquez. Vazquez gets slowly back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boss is trying hard to land a takedown here. Vazquez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Boss moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Kurt Boss is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Boss fails with the takedown. Vazquez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. The fight stays on the outside here - Boss looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Boss closes the distance and clinches. Vazquez is trying to pull guard but Boss has him pressed against the cage. Boss is trying to drag Vazquez to the mat but Vazquez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Boss decides to pull guard. Vazquez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boss looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Boss escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vazquez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Boss working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Vazquez. Vazquez looking to pass the guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vazquez trying to control the position from guard on top but Boss is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Vazquez keeps the fight on the outside. Despite the aggression on Vazquez's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Boss is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Vazquez can do to turn this around? Vazquez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Boss as he jumps to the side. Vazquez throws a combination that misses and Boss connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Vazquez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Boss gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Vazquez is trying to trip Boss. He has hold of a leg but Boss is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Vazquez persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Boss has Vazquez pulled in close to control his posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boss is looking for a triangle but Vazquez pushes his legs off easily.
Boss wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Boss trying to keep a closed guard but Vazquez is proving a slippery customer.
Kurt Boss overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Boss is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vazquez defends well. Vazquez wanted to stand there but Boss had control of the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kurt Boss will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Vazquez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boss swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nice shot lands for Boss. Boss tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vazquez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Boss somewhat. Vazquez misses with an attempted mid kick.
Boss drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boss's corner is telling him to maintain position. Vazquez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Boss defends well. Boss engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boss accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Boss postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Boss tries for a takedown but Vazquez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Boss darts in looking for a takedown but Vazquez gets double underhooks and turns Boss into the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt Boss. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boss leaves Vazquez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Vazquez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Vazquez shoots in looking for a takedown but Boss manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vazquez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Boss throws a series of punches but Vazquez moves out of range. Vazquez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Boss shoots in looking for a takedown. Vazquez tries to sprawl out of it but Boss keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vazquez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vazquez tries to land a knee to the head but Boss blocks with his arms.
Vazquez is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Boss is defending well for now. Boss breaks from the clinch.
Vazquez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Boss is trying is best to control the position here. Boss manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Vazquez keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Vazquez tries to break free but Boss pushes him back against the cage. Boss pulls guard successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Boss is on top in guard.
Boss tries to free his leg and advance position but Vazquez is retaining full guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Boss stands up from Vazquez's guard - Boss perhaps looking for a knockout. Boss fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vazquez manages to avoid it. Vazquez throws a left and a right that both miss
and Boss holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Boss pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Salva Vazquez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The fight moves into the clinch position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vazquez tries for a takedown but Boss manages to get underhooks.
Kurt Boss is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boss pulls guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Kurt Boss showed his dominance in that final round. Well Boss has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
