Coming up we have a lightweight kickboxing rules bout between Dierk Riese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dierk Riese! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Armstrong! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Armstrong walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Riese finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Riese catches Armstrong with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Riese scores with a leg kick.
Riese fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Armstrong looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Armstrong's corner calls for a 1-2. Armstrong obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Riese will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Armstrong takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Nice defenses there by Riese. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Riese slips a jab from Armstrong. Armstrong misses with a hook. Riese ducked under it nicely. Riese moves out of range of the strikes. Riese quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Armstrong waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Riese. Riese thuds his right hand into Armstrong's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
It looks like Joe Armstrong has been cut. Riese throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Riese scores with a crisp jab that stopped Armstrong in his tracks. Riese ducks under a wild hook from Armstrong. Armstrong misses with a left hand and Riese counters with a series of strikes. Armstrong will be more careful next time no doubt.
Armstrong is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Armstrong avoids the body shot from Riese.

It seemed like Armstrong was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. A left lands for Riese. Riese looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. A little jabbing left from Armstrong on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Armstrong moves out of range of the body kick from Riese.

Armstrong lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Riese slips under a jab from Armstrong. Armstrong thows a left - swing and a miss! Riese moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Riese throws a leg kick and Armstrong counters with a beautiful hook that drops Riese to the mat! Will Riese be able to recover his senses? The referee starts the count at 3 having sent Armstrong to a neutral corner. 4,5,6 and Riese is up. He looks OK to continue.

Riese misses the shot to the body. Armstrong takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Riese seems to have got his legs back now. Armstrong cracks Riese with a good jab. Riese is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Good leg kick by Riese there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Riese throws a leg kick that is checked and Armstrong counters with a slapping leg kick. That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Armstrong throws a shot from downtown. Riese moves away and avoids it. Riese throws a wild body kick that Armstrong sees coming a mile off. Armstrong takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Riese misses with a looping right. Armstrong throws a lazy right hand but Riese sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Riese fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Riese throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Armstrong looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Armstrong's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Armstrong keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Riese lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Armstrong misses with an uppercut. Riese saw that one coming. Riese lands a body shot.
Riese throws a right and a left that both miss. Armstrong looks like he wants to counter punch here. Armstrong throws the left hand but Riese avoids the punch easily. Riese appears to be looking for a big counter.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Armstrong takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Armstrong has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Riese. Armstrong takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Riese lands a jab to Armstrong's midsection. Riese cracks Armstrong with a right hand to the side of the head. Riese digs a good hook to Armstrong's body.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Armstrong! But no joy. Riese lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Riese tests Armstrong's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's six minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Riese lands a really nice looking cross but Armstrong seems unphased.

As Riese backs off Armstrong throws a huge counter combo but Riese manages to avoid it all. Armstrong takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dierk Riese seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Armstrong throws a jab but it's blocked by Riese. Armstrong jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Riese jabs Armstrong to the body, keeping him at a distance. Riese takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Riese moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Armstrong throws an off balance right hand
and Riese connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Riese swings away with a leg kick that misses. Riese lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Riese misses with a head kick.
Armstrong takes one to the chin there. Armstrong takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Armstrong paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Armstrong takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Riese fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Armstrong has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Armstrong throws a lazy right hand but Riese sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Riese throws a sloppy head kick and Armstrong moves out of range easily. The fighters circling - Armstrong throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A good leg kick by Riese. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Riese.
Riese looks to land a right hand but Armstrong moved out of range. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Armstrong! But no joy. Riese walks into a stiff left hand from Armstrong. Riese feints and then cracks Armstrong's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Armstrong down. Riese walks straight into devastating uppercut and drops to the floor, clearly wobbled! Can he beat the count? 4,5,6,7... he's up! And he's down again! The ref steps in and calls an end to the fight! What a punch that was!
