Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reesalo Cherubim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Reesalo Cherubim!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Darius Henderson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cherubim wants to counter with a clinch but Carter pushes him away.
Carter digs a good hook to Cherubim's body.
Carter looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Cherubim shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cherubim connects with a solid leg kick.

Cherubim clinches up against the cage.
Cherubim struggles to land a body shot inside as Carter controls his hands.
Cherubim changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Carter fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Carter is looking to clinch but Cherubim is avoiding it.
Cherubim unleashes a big counter combination but Carter bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Cherubim lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cherubim has Carter up against the cage in a clinch.
Cherubim goes for a takedown in the clinch but Carter prevents it.
James Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Reesalo Cherubim.

Carter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cherubim looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Cherubim working for a triangle but Carter defends it easily.

Cherubim is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cherubim wants to stand and escape but Carter is having none of it.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Cherubim tries to counter with a clinch but Carter shakes him off and moves away.
Cherubim connects with a leg kick. Carter looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Cherubim tries to clinch up but Carter circles away and keeps his distance.
Carter doesn't manage to clinch there - Cherubim circles away.
Cherubim wants to counter with a clinch but Carter pushes him away.

Cherubim throws the kick towards the body but Carter avoids it.

Carter forces Cherubim back against the cage and clinches.
Cherubim goes for a takedown attempt but Carter pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Carter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cherubim is fending him off so far but Carter persists. Nope, Cherubim circles away and we're back to standing.
A clash of legs there as Cherubim blocks the low kick.

and Cherubim counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cherubim.
Carter wants to get back to his feet but Cherubim is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cherubim trying to control the position from guard on top but Carter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cherubim stands and throws Carter's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carter regains half guard there - taking advantage of Cherubim's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Carter is staying active underneath Cherubim, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Carter slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Cherubim trying to control the position from guard on top but Carter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Carter throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cherubim landing with the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carter wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cherubim rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cherubim shoots in but no luck this time.
Cherubim avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carter digs a good body shot into Cherubim's ribs.
Carter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cherubim defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cherubim throws a right hand that Carter ducks under and follows up with a left that Carter also avoids with ease.

Carter drops down looking for a counter takedown but Cherubim sprawls and moves away.

Cherubim rushes Carter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cherubim breaks from the clinch.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Carter crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Cherubim - the referee stops the clock and Carter gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Cherubim. Carter manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Cherubim throws a right hand that Carter ducks under and follows up with a left that Carter also avoids with ease.

Nice sprawl there from Cherubim as Carter shoots in.
Carter tries for a takedown but Cherubim sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carter is looking to clinch but Cherubim is avoiding it.
Cherubim is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Cherubim changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Carter is not content to let Cherubim control the position.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cherubim is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carter knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Reesalo Cherubim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Reesalo Cherubim is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cherubim takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
James Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Carter is trying desperately to improve position.

Reesalo Cherubim comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cherubim has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
