And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, William Henry Bonney!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bonney throws a series of strikes that have Vega backpedaling.
Vega throws a poor cross that misses
and Bonney counters with a nice body shot.
Vega looks to throw a body kick
and Bonney counters with a stiff right hand.
Bonney tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Vega takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Bonney ducks under a wild hook from Vega.
Bonney moves away from the strike by Vega.
Bonney unleashes a big counter combination but Vega bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Vega shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Vega goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Bonney wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vega throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bonney tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Vega is in Bonney's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've been hearing good reports from Vega's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vega is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bonney knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bonney tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Vega wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Vega wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bonney, who protects the arm well.

Bonney felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Vega wants to free his trapped foot but Bonney is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Bonney throws a right hand that Vega ducks under and follows up with a left that Vega also avoids with ease.

and Bonney counters with a lovely straight right hand!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vega throws a right and a left that Bonney avoids nicely.
Bonney moves out of range of the body kick from Vega.
Bonney connects with a nice looking jab.
Vega throws a half hearted mid kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Steve Vega seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vega goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A nice side step and Bonney releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Bonney circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bonney looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Vega gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Bonney counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Vega is looking to clinch.
As Vega backs off Bonney throws a huge counter combo but Vega manages to avoid it all.
Vega shoots in for a takedown but Bonney shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bonney throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vega stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Vega is looking to slow Bonney down with leg kicks.
William Henry Bonney seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Vega needs to keep his hands up - Bonney had a free shot at his head there.
Bonney looks to land a combination. Vega sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Bonney connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Bonney stalks Vega and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Vega's face. Vega staggers backwards, shaken.

and Bonney counters with a left to the body.
Vega tries for a takedown but Bonney circles away easily
and Bonney counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bonney lands a nice hook to Vega's body. Vega takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Vega pushes Bonney away with a front kick.
Vega misses with an attempted mid kick.
Vega takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Oh Vega is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bonney darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Bonney tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bonney lands a head kick!
Bonney lands with a big left! Vega is wobbled badly! Bonney comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Vega to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). William Henry Bonney!
William Henry Bonney is the new lightweight champion!
In his post fight interview, William Henry Bonney gave a big smile as he said 'Vega, I told you I would make you famous! But unfortunately for you it means I took your belt! Broken Halo Pride!'.
