PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Martin Lindner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keven Vaillancourt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Lindner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Keven Vaillancourt!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lindner blocks a leg kick.
Vaillancourt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lindner looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Vaillancourt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Vaillancourt is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Lindner will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Vaillancourt creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lindner sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
You can see the frustration on Lindner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here.

Lindner tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Lindner covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Vaillancourt really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Lindner.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Let's hope that Vaillancourt has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Keven Vaillancourt just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Vaillancourt shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Vaillancourt shoots in but Lindner avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lindner slips a jab and a cross from Vaillancourt.

Martin Lindner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keven Vaillancourt.

Vaillancourt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lindner as he jumps to the side.

Lindner tries to bum rush Vaillancourt with a series of wild strikes but Vaillancourt uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Lindner throws a front kick that sends Vaillancourt stumbling back into the cage.
Lindner pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lindner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lindner lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lindner.
Good leg kick by Lindner there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Lindner darts in and clinches Vaillancourt up against the cage.
Lindner blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Vaillancourt keeps control of Lindner as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Lindner wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lindner has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Vaillancourt avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Lindner is refusing to be controlled, as Vaillancourt sits in half guard.

Vaillancourt is stalling here. Lindner is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Vaillancourt seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lindner has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Lindner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vaillancourt keeps working.
Vaillancourt is trying to buck Lindner off.
Vaillancourt is looking to regain half guard here but Lindner keeps moving and retains side control.

Lindner gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Vaillancourt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lindner lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Vaillancourt shoots in for a double leg but Lindner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Vaillancourt avoids the head kick by Lindner.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lindner wanted to stand there but Vaillancourt had control of the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lindner seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Vaillancourt is doing well to control the position and prevent Lindner from advancing to side control.

Vaillancourt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lindner swivels and escapes.

Vaillancourt drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lindner pulls his leg out and moves away.

Vaillancourt gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Vaillancourt closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lindner circles away.
Vaillancourt swats away the attempt to clinch by Lindner.
Lindner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vaillancourt moves away.
Lindner looks to land a combination but Vaillancourt avoids it well.
Vaillancourt shoots in for a double leg but Lindner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Vaillancourt closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lindner circles away.
Lindner throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Lindner dips to his left and cracks Vaillancourt with an uppercut!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Vaillancourt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Keven Vaillancourt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Lindner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Vaillancourt rushes Lindner and presses him up against the cage.
Vaillancourt is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Vaillancourt struggles to land a body shot inside as Lindner controls his hands.

Vaillancourt controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Lindner wants to stand but Vaillancourt is controlling the position.

Keven Vaillancourt has got the better of the ground game so far.

Vaillancourt is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lindner is on top in guard.

Vaillancourt wants to hit a switch here but Lindner passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Vaillancourt there!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lindner avoids the attempt from Vaillancourt to control.
Vaillancourt is looking to improve his position but Lindner isn't that keen on the idea.
Keven Vaillancourt is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Vaillancourt sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vaillancourt can do anything to dispel that myth.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vaillancourt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

I would just about give that final round to Keven Vaillancourt.
