The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wooney scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Wooney prevents Ferdinand from standing back up.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ferdinand holds on and takes a little breather. Wooney wants to get up but he can't break Ferdinand's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Ferdinand wants to get back to his feet but Wooney is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Ferdinand has his feet on Wooney's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Wooney goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Wooney feints and as Ferdinand raises his hands in defense, Wooney changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ferdinand striking off his back but it's not causing Wooney any problems. Ferdinand trying to keep a closed guard but Wooney is proving a slippery customer.
Ferdinand will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Wooney tries to stand but Ferdinand is controlling from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ferdinand wants to sweep but Wooney has passed to side control! Wooney has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ferdinand tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Wooney get's back to his feet. Ferdinand tries to bum rush Wooney with a series of wild strikes but Wooney uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Wooney shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Ferdinand is looking for a sweep. Wooney is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooney postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ferdinand to stand up. Wooney scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Wooney displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ferdinand throws out the jab. Ferdinand gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Wooney. Wooney has a takedown stuffed. Wooney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ferdinand's waist but Ferdinand gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wooney off to one side. Rayne Wooney is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Wayne Ferdinand has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rayne Wooney. Wooney shoots in and bounces Ferdinand off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Ferdinand is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ferdinand being controlled here, momentarily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that's the end of the fight! Rayne Wooney comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Wooney has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
