PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Hartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hartman has chosen Fuel-Metallica as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackson Ramos!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Hartman!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hartman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ramos.
Hartman feints the counter takedown.

Hartman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Ramos is trying to control Hartman's posture but Hartman avoids it.

Hartman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hartman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ramos is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hartman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ramos is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ramos is trying to buck Hartman off.

Hartman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ramos, who protects the arm well.

Hartman swings around for an armbar but Ramos sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hartman's guard.

Hartman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ramos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ramos wants to pass to mount but Hartman is defending the position.
Ramos definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Hartman has gone for a leg lock! Ramos slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hartman's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ramos wants to control from the top but Hartman keeps moving.

That was a close round but I would say that Jackson Ramos will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ramos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hartman avoids a punch combination nicely.

Hartman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ramos tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hartman is in Ramos's guard.
Ramos controls Hartman momentarily but Hartman frees himself.

Hartman might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ramos haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hartman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ramos looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ramos looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ramos!

Hartman felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Ramos tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hartman.

Ramos lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hartman throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ramos escapes and throws Hartman's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Ramos is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hartman's shoulder. That is not cool.
Hartman is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Ramos goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hartman rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ramos's guard! Nice work there by Hartman!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hartman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ramos manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hartman has Ramos in his guard.

Ramos tries to free his leg and advance position but Hartman is retaining full guard.

Ramos has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hartman to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Ramos is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hartman pulls down on the head and he's put Ramos to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 4, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). James Hartman!

A less than humble James Hartman misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
