Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Weidman!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A nice side step and Weidman releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Weidman shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Weidman lands with a nice combination. Silva backs away looking to recover.
Weidman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Weidman enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Weidman manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Silva controls from within his opponent's guard.
Weidman looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silva stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Silva looking to score a takedown here. Weidman is defending well but Silva drives through and ends up in Weidman's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Weidman is trying to control the position but Silva postures up.
Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Weidman is retaining full guard.
Silva is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Silva decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Weidman, up you get!
Weidman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Silva looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Weidman changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Weidman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Silva defends it nicely.
Anderson Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Weidman.

Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silva showed some decent athleticism there.

Silva has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Weidman defend it? Silva steps over the head and cranks it - Weidman is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Silva!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Anderson Silva!
Anderson Silva opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
